The Hotel is wonderful and an old property with beautiful rustic beams and slanting old floors - extremely characterful - love it and stayed many times here. Extremely dog friendly they welcome our beloved pets as much as us.

Absolutely everything to be honest. It was very luxurious, clean, fancy, really cool lighting options through the room, amazing bathtub with a tv with Netflix right by the bathtub, massive bed, lots of thoughtful amenities. I loved the theme of the Columbus room it was very warm and welcoming and cosy!

Gorgeous tiny retreat in the centre of Kirby Lonsdale, it's quirky just like me and it lived up to my expectations perfectly. Will definitely be back as soon as I can 😍
Between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, this former 17th-century inn is rich in original character and traditional charm, offering good food, real ales and log fires.

Its just a beautiful, lots of cafes, pubs, restaurants and quirky little shops. Then some great walks right on the doorstep walk down the Radical steps (I suggest not walking up them unless you are full of energy and value your knees!) then right along the river to Devils Bridge. I cant recommend the Vault at the Tourist information centre, what a brilliant was to show the history of the town and why not visit the Chocolate mine in 'Chocolate'

I’ve been to Kirkby Lonsdale a number of times as my relative lives there.
Loved the brewery, which was a hidden gem. Atmosphere great, log fires and the pizzas looked lovely.
We went to Plato’s for food. There wasn’t much vegetarian choice. Also went to Avanti one night.
Lovely walk near the river and the cottage was very central to all amenities.

This is a beautiful place to stay, we've been as a family a few times and would go back again. Its a small town with a decent amount of interesting shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. There are lots of places to visit on the door step you can walk through the church and down the Radical Steps (I suggest going down rather than up, they're called radical for a reason!) then along the river and back in to the town past the amazing ice cream shop. There is a chocolate shop with a chocolate mine underneath!!!! The Tourist information centre has a brilliant feature at the back to show you the history of the Town. You could spend a few days just in the town and Im sure there are things to do further a field if you were staying longer.

The town is ideally situated to visit both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. It has a good selection of shops bars and restaurants. Only draw back was an hours free parking before having to find metered parking. Area regularly patrolled by traffic warden

The house is very well equipped with everything needed to make it a home from home. It is a stunning property right from arrival at the front door. The view from one of the windows is a lovely place to enjoy a morning tea or coffee. Kirkby Lonsdale itself has some good shops, excellent cafés and restaurants. Although it was raining, we still enjoyed walks by the river. We visited Sizergh castle. The microbrewery in Kirkby Lonsdale was a bonus! We would definitely return.
This is a charming cottage in a delightful spot right next to the church and in town. We could walk to pubs and shops, which was such fun. Parking varied, but we always found a space nearby. The kitchen was stocked with milk, butter, bread, coffee and even a bottle of Prosecco! The place is cute and cozy with room enough for two people, especially if they are not very tall. Our host was easy to contact and very responsive. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Fabulous high end suite. Very luxurious, no expense spared throughout. Lots of lovely touches. State of the art media system, lovely comfy bed, and what is there not to like about a jacuzzi! Breakfast was down the road at a gorgeous little pub. Yes it’s a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for in this life. We wished we were staying longer. Kirkby Lonsdale is very pretty with lots of eateries. Can highly recommend
This is a very old building quite quirky plenty of parking when we arrived we couldn’t be more welcomed, although the restaurant was close at the moment due to Covid issues we went for a takeaway arriving back the owner supplied us with all the cutlery and plates we needed we took along our pup as this is a dog friendly hotel and there’s plenty of grass for her to run around. Would we go back YES we would.
Kirkby Lonsdale is a gem of a town in Northern England, and the Royal is the jewel in the centre. A lovely hotel in the town centre with excellent facilities and well appointed rooms.
Room was spacious and comfortable, even better than the last time we stayed here.
Dinner and breakfast were excellent.
Quiet, yet centrally located for shops and bars in this fantastic, picturesque Market Town on the edge of Dales and close to the Lakes. Full or character and charm yet well equipped with all mod cons. A lovely, quirky apartment which we will definitely book again if staying over in Kirkby Lonsdale.
We have visited Kirkby Lonsdale a few times but the first at this hotel and we loved everything from the service, the room, the food and staff and obviously the location and we will not be staying at any other hotel in the future 😊
The location was excellent right in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. The cottage had loads of character and was very cosy and welcoming. The host, Mandy, was attentive and wanted to ensure everything was to our satisfaction.
We loved the location and being in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. We enjoyed being within walking steps to great restaurants and shops. On street parking was very easy, despite our visit during a bank holiday weekend.
The accommodation is in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale, so perfect location. The decor was good, room comfortable, quiet and cosy. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is also very dog friendly.
Location was great . If the weather had been dry the sitting out area would have been lovely.
Basic but good for 1night. Best to eat out in or around Kirkby Lonsdale.
Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of accommodation and the very good cooked breakfast. Central position in town so near everything and quiet despite this.
