“Stayed in Lex Cottage for a weekend and couldn’t believe how massive the garden is - our 2 dogs loved it! The cottage is old and decorated accordingly, so if you’re looking for somewhere with all the mod cons then this isn’t for you, but if you’re looking for a traditional cottage with enormous garden and a pub next door then it absolutely is! ”

“There's absolutely nothing not to like! It's the most idyllic setting.. Rabbits deer pheasants and so many different species of birds in the beautiful gardens! We loved it so much so we have been looking at properties in and around Laycock! Thank you so much Mr&Mrs Hardy your cottage is just too wonderful for words! We will be back! ”

“What a delightful warm welcome we received when we walked through the door of this quiet peaceful cottage, heating on, warm and cosy, welcome basket with homemade jam and fresh bread! Towels, toiletries and everything provided to make you feel at home . Well Stocked kitchen meaning you didn’t have pack the contents of your kitchen cupboards to cook a meal. Our wire haired fox terrier played in the stream in the garden and then had a rinse in the outdoor room before drying off where we could store boots and coats. Brilliant WiFi enabling us to check emails at the lovely old pine table over a morning coffee. Perfect stay, thank you . ”

“The cottage is lovely, the garden is big and well kept, and the location is beautiful. The cottage is well equipped with everything you might need and nicely furnished. Beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious. We loved the charming little stream in the garden. Nice decking outside, also a little heated garden house further down to snuggle up in and have a good conversation. We went in November, and the cottage was very warm, which was also a plus.”

“An architecturally interesting pet-friendly house with a very homely atmosphere, tastefully decorated and furnished; incredibly jolly and pro-active host with a long and distinguished track record in hospitality (having run the famous Sign of the Angel in nearby Lacock for 40 years). Fabulous views from the grounds, right across Melksham, deer and rabbits in the garden, excellent pub right next door. Very friendly locals. Powerful shower, well-equipped kitchen with Bosch dishwasher and huge Maytag fridge-freezer. Outside laundry room with washing machine (a cheap Beko which wouldn't heat) and tumble dryer (a very basic but fast timer-only Hotpoint vented machine) plus Belfast sink.”

“The property has a great garden (not fully fenced, and the garden wraps around the house, so if you have a small mischievous dog like we do then be careful!). There is a nice summerhouse. Overall I would say that the photos available online at the moment do this property a disservice. It is a nice, simple holiday home with everything that you need and lots to do nearby. The property has a good modern bathroom and kitchen. There is a double and twin bedroom (both on the first floor with the bathroom), then a lounge and dining room along with the kitchen on the ground floor. The description and photos don't mention the second bedroom (as at July 19) so we wondered if we would be getting a sofa bed in the lounge - glad to find out there were two proper bedrooms. Plenty of electrical sockets for your phones and laptops.”
