The OYO Star Hotel, South Leicester is a family-run establishment, only a few minutes' walk from Leicester’s city center and the world-famous De Montfort Hall.
the staff are very friendly felt very comfortable here
Multicultural Leicester has a vibrant feel, partly due to the large student population of De Montfort and Leicester universities. The latter lines Victoria Park, whereas Abbey Park covers both banks of the River Soar and houses ruins of a 12th-century abbey that was the burial site of Cardinal Wolsey.
Richard III was also buried in the city and a commemorative statue sits in Castle Gardens, by the Newarke Houses Museum and St Mary de Castro Church. St Nicholas Church overlooks the Jewry Wall Roman bath remains, while the tall-spired cathedral is next to the half-timbered, medieval guildhall.
Nearby are the Highcross and Haymarket shopping centres, as well as Leicester Market – Europe’s largest outdoor covered market. The city centre is packed with restaurants and bars, and the Golden Mile of Belgrave Road has a wealth of curry houses and jewellery stores. It also hosts the largest Diwali celebrations outside India.
Other entertainment venues are Upper Brown Street and the futuristic-looking Curve Theatre. Equally modern in design is the National Space Centre, while the National Gas Museum is near King Power Stadium, home of Leicester City FC. Leicestershire Golf Course is one of 8 surrounding the city.
The Leicester accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with spas, guest houses near the train station and cheap inns with parking.
I only went to a conference at the National Space centre.
I only went to a conference at the National Space centre. I will go there with my grandson in time to come as it looked a fantastic day out for children and interesting for accompanying adults.
Rush hour traffic in Leicester is horrendous, especially in the morning school run slot. Don’t venture out onto the ring roads until after 9.30 am!!

A tired city centre; clearly people are struggling financially in the area as we saw lots of homeless sleeping in the street and we encountered quite a few beggars. This is sad to see but equally can leave a visitor feeling a little vulnerable. We ate at San Carlo on our first night and had a terrible experience - the food and service was awful. Thankfully my graduation went well the following day and The Curve made our visit memorable. As a mature person with disabilities, we fully enjoyed the quieter areas of the nightlife, and had great cocktails night at the Turtle Bay.

The city is very beautiful.
The city is very beautiful. The air seemed cleaner than that in London, which is where I live. The hotel was very close to the city centre, which made it easily accessible to shops and restaurants. The city seemed very calm and safe.

Impressed by Richard III centre and smart Cathedral with Altar in middle and congregation surrounding. Museum & Art Gallery small but had been refurbished-well done.
Plenty of interesting heritage information boards about near old building. But shops all drab and nothing nice. Good Italian & good Curry very close by.

When in the right place in Leicester, such as the cultural quarter and the old town, it is absolutely wonderful. However, like all cities, it has its rough spots which may feel somewhat uninviting.
Be sure to visit the Richard III centre and the New Walk Museum
There is also a great shopping centre, Highcross, with lots of well known stores which is well worth a visit.

I went to uni here so it was nice to visit.
I went to uni here so it was nice to visit. It was a shame to see so many empty shops. We went to the Diwali light switch on which was incredible! Especially the main stage and the fireworks. We ate at TGI Fridays which was overpriced and literally a plate of salt with a side of food, neither of us finished our food and had to wash it down with a £20 cocktail. We walked everywhere but I noticed there was a hopper bus to take you around the city for free but we were not sure where to get on it. We only stayed for one night which felt long enough.
Good location, just a short walk into the city centre. The cathedral was 5-10minutes away. Parking at the NCP at the site was very easy, convenient to pre-book, but not that full when we were there. Room was massive, very comfortable, clean and had amazing views over the west of the city. Reception staff (especially Claire) were really helpful and welcoming. The on site restaurant was very good, good choices and great service. Overall a well run and pleasant hotel to stay at.
We had a very enjoyable stay at Chater Barn. The property is spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms had nice quality fittings and the same was true of the kitchen. The property would have no problem accommodating 6 adults.
I would say that the photos don't actually do justice to the property. It is in a nice quiet location with Oakham and Rutland Water a short drive and Leicester also close by. The National Space Centre was a hit with the grandson.
Convenient location: a 5 minute walk from the station and an easy 15 minute walk into the city centre via New Walk. The hotel itself exceeded my expectations for the price paid. Large and comfortable room with nice finishing touches and what appeared to be a brand new bathroom. Breakfast was very good, with friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend and will stay again next time I’m in Leicester.
Was great city centre location and well equipped. Staff were extremely helpful and even let us keep a big cake that we were using for a party the next day in their restaurant fridge! We didn't use the bar or restaurant but it looks very nice. It's a perfect example of a self-catering hotel that still feels luxurious and hotel-like.
All the staff were really welcoming especially the breakfast staff. The room was beautiful with attention to detail and the bed so comfortable. Given that our room was directly above a local pub we were not disturbed. I would definitely recommend the Castle for a stay it's a 20 minute drive to Leicester City centre.
Very comfortable bed and a great choice of food for breakfast. Only a short walk from the city centre and very handy for the Leicester Tigers rugby stadium! Our room was very quiet despite the hotel being close to the hospital A&E and two main roads.
It was a lovely B and B with a wonderful, welcoming host. The location was perfect to be able to go into Leicester City centre and the village its self so pretty. Will definitely be staying here if we're over Leicester way again!
comfy bed, location in front of Leicester Cathedral, walking distance from city centre, near De Montfort University, hospitality of the staff;
they immediately informed about my left things and send to my address in Manchester
Clearly a state of the art hotel, beautifully designed. We were attending an event at Leicester Uni so chose here for its proximity. Good price for the quality. Very comfortable beds and quality rooms.
I have stayed at this hotel before the staff are great and beds very comfatable.with good access to leicester and surrounding areas from this motorway services .With a good choice of food in the services
The Belmont was great. Our room was more them ample. The breakfast was fantastic! Location was an easy walk from the train station & into ghe square of town. By the way we really e joyed Leicester.
Leicester City football club is just across the road. We stayed for the women's six nations rugby and it was only a 5 min walk to the stadium and also shops and places to eat.
The stay was cosy and close to the supermarket. Within walking distance to a wide range of food courts and some shopping. You may not need to go into the city centre
