Hotel Loch Shiel Hotel
Main Street, Acharacle, PH36 4JL, United Kingdom – Great location - show map
Before booking, we read the reviews on booking.com and they indicated that the hotel accommodation was average but that the restaurant was very good. This proved to be completely accurate. It needs to be borne in mind that this is a Scottish highland hotel in a tiny village which has to be all things to all men: hotel, restaurant, local pub, etc. As such it is typical of its type and much better than many. Dinner on both nights was excellent. They have a menu which is just the right size, enough to provide a choice and not so much that would mean frozen dishes. The seafood was fresh, local and really very good. Serving staff were very friendly and informative but not cloying or overly familiar. The bar in the hotel is friendly and well-stocked. The beer is well-kept and they have a nice range of single malts. All in all, this was a good base for two days of exploration of the Arnamurchan Peninsula and we would stay there again.

Really can't fault anything - in fact this was one the best stays I've had across the UK. Staff were friendly and accomodating, room was great temperature, shower was spot on and the breakfast was great. They even had me a dinner prepared, despite my late arrival. Definitely be rebooking next time we have work up Mallaig way.

We liked being just in the middle of nowhere - for one night perfect, for more too boring for my family, seating outside, my girls liked the swing in the tree a lot :), food was good and for breakfast they make the eggs fresh for you any style and the staff was very friendly.

We had dinner when we arrived which was lovely. The breakfast was excellent as was the staff

very friendly staff (and locals) who were willing to share local knowledge. this helped us make our trip more memorable. we will be back.

The location.. The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and had what we needed. Was lovely and warm

Central location for visiting the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Food was excellent.

It was in a wonderful place overlooking Loch Shiel, it was really convenient with local amenities, fabulously comfortable room with loch view, food was delightful and the staff brilliant, the bar was friendly, just overall a brilliant place to be.

Location is fantastic with superb views over Loch Shiel, rooms were spotless clean and furnished to a very high standard, bed was super comfortable too! Food was very good, we had dinner which was excellent and the breakfasts were superb.

There are not many places to stay around Acharacle, so the Loch Shiel Hotel was our only choice. I am glad to say that we didn't regret booking it. The room was lovely and clean. There is a restaurant which serves delicious food and a bar (some nice local whisky on display :-)) Plenty of (safe) parking spaces (we came on motorbikes). By the way, the drive from Acharacle to Mallaig ferry is a treat for all of you bikers !
