The quaintest of pubs, in the most beautiful surroundings!!!
Small, comfortable, warm, rooms.
Friendly staff, amazing food and an array of beers all brewed on site.
If you like super modern, you won't like it, which is great for me as I should always be able to book!!
Featuring a garden and views of garden, Scafell and Wasdale Cottages is a recently renovated apartment located in Nether Wasdale, 3.2 km from Wasdale.

The location was stunning! Such a wonderful view and incredibly relaxing. The room was comfortable and well equipped for self-catering. The host was very friendly and welcoming and being able to see the horses on the farm was an added bonus.
Once visited by Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI, parts of Irton Hall date back to the 14th century.

this is an unmanned hotel. Keys were left at the porch. It's immaculate and dog-friendly. The sea and beach view on the 2nd-floor room was beautiful!
In the heart of the Western Lake District, this family-run hotel with sea views has an on-site ice cream parlour, coffee shop and gym.

The staff, hospitality, the food are all bang on point. It’s a no nonsense friendly hotel. Went for a nice walk on the fantastic beach on the doorstep. And in the evening you get the greatest of sunsets with the Isle of Man on the Horizon. I’d go back again.
1692 Wasdale is closed to Gosforth and features a garden, terrace and shared lounge. Rooms include a patio with a sea view. At the hotel, the rooms come with a desk.

It advertises as pet friendly then tried to bill us for dog hairs being left in the apartment.
Mould on ceiling in bathroom.
Lots of flies in cottage.
Coffee machine didn't work.
Advertises as having sky but they didn't.
Wi fi wasn't great.
Dirt and dust under beds and couch, it hadn't been cleaned properly.
Stains on bed linen.
Not a holiday with so many rules and restrictions. It was a wooden floor that could be moped but your still told to take your shoes off at the door.
Too many rules and felt on edge.

It's a great part of the Lake District.
It's a great part of the Lake District. You can reach Wast Water lake from the accommodation and its a really scenic walk. Not overcrowded by tourists. Scafell Pike looms magnificently as a back drop to The Strands Hotel.

Nether Wasdale is a quiet location that provides a good base...
Nether Wasdale is a quiet location that provides a good base for walks long or short as it is close to the starting point for Scafell Pike. It's much quieter than other more popular Lakes towns, so expect to drive a short while to find other shops and restaurants. I will definitely visit again in better weather so as to take advantage of the beautiful Wast Water walks nearby, or just to enjoy the comforts the smaller inns offer.
We stayed at the Strands Hotel which has great food and local ales from its own microbrewery. A great little farm shop and cafe, the Sawmill, is great for a coffee-and-cake stop alongside a stream, and offers insight into the former industries of this quieter area.

Nether Wasdale is remote with fantastic countryside.
Nether Wasdale is remote with fantastic countryside. You need a car and to want to explore this amazing valley. There are parking spaces along Wast Water and walks. Going into the fells requires good map reading and a sense of adventure and is hugely rewarding. Visit St Olaf's Church at Wasdale Head.

Beautiful setting and base to explore.
Beautiful setting and base to explore. It is remote and a couple of days is a good length of stay because there are just the two pubs and not much else to do. We had not been before and we would visit again for a short stay.

A hidden gem in the lakes archetypical village green and pub...
A hidden gem in the lakes archetypical village green and pub leading to a beautiful lake surrounded by awe inspiring hills. The box end to the valley is an amazing as its dominated by the two highest mountains in England on the right and equally imposing hills centre and left of you. Jaw dropping.
Loved the bar area at night, such a welcoming feel to it, much like the pubs of old where a welcome awaited. The beers were really good made on site in the microbrewery especially the blackburrrr, perfect stout for those cold winter nights.
We both loved the welcome of hosts lesley and mark. The wonderful Lake District has a gem here. Make no mistake, I will be back (sorry Arnie).!!
AMAZING and idyllic location.
Wasdale lake is just a km away from the cottage which was a pleasant surprise!
Lots of hiking routes near the cottage and an ideal location for mountain climbing or water activities.
Very warm and homely feel, mostly clean and tidy, fluffy pillows and the beds were super comfy.
Superb accommodation in the most beautiful hillside. Mountains on one side, the valley in front of us and to the right you can see the sea. Signs up on the road and gate were very helpful to find the property. Very comfortable and clean - would highly recommend. The area was very peaceful and quiet.
Fabulous cottage with stunning views of the mountains and sea. The cottage was cosy and clean and had excellent facilities for all our needs. Lovely walks around the property and Wast water lake nearby for canoeing or kayaking. Would definitely stay again.
The views are amazing and there is literally a hike right outside the door!! The property has everything you would need, just bring your food and wine. There are also lots of good places to eat nearby such as the Wild Olive and the Sawmill!
