No review to write as they cancelled my booking saying that there was a problem with the room. A friend was also looking to book and noticed that they were advertising rooms available. This was during Cheltenham so I suspect that they cancelled as they thought they could get more money for the room!
There was no compassion from them, as it was last minute I could only find a Travel Lodge

There are a lot of independent shops and antique emporiums to browse around as well as some High Street names. Lots of cafes to sample too. There were some interesting restaurants but far too many were Indian for the size of town. Great if you love Indian food but not so good if you are looking for variety. The river is a pretty attraction and being able to walk along its banks is lovely. Boat trips are available during the summer. The marina is very attractive and has some lovely pubs in which to pass some relaxing time. The Black Bear pub is well worth a visit and has been fully refurbished recently (2024).

The wide variation of carpets upstairs looked like an Arab Souk. Parking was adequate at the back of the premises. Great atmosphere as a commercial pub near a famous Racecourse (Cheltenham) but the staff training towards visiting guests needs quite a bit of work !!

The Abby was worth seeing and the walk along the river and on the battlefield trail were nice. Also there is a large field or park that is between the rivers where you can get in a nice couple of miles walking. The town had some very nice restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries.
We enjoyed our visit very much.

A lovely quaint town. The people are friendly. We enjoyed the craft market on Sunday.
The river side is beautiful. The Abbey is breathtaking. Shame is it closed now for a few weeks. There are a few places to eat well.

Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious and a large choice from bar or restaurant. Grounds were amazing. Rooms were a little dated. There was hanging space in the room a rail with no door. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Hairdryer and iron were also in the room. Towels were large, soft and very white in bathroom and pool area. Overall a lovely spa stay. Spirits were overpriced but pints of cider or beer were as expected. We didn't actually go into the town as we were only staying 1 night . Already booked another spa treatment so will be returning soon.
The location is excellent being across the street from Tewksbury Abbey and on the main street with some delightful shops and restaurants. The decor is gorgeous: the hostess, Joan, has excellent design style. Room #3--executive suite--is incredibly spacious with comfortable furniture including a luxurious king bed and lounge area. The bathroom is updated with a roomy shower complete with excellent water pressure--a true luxury. The building itself is lovingly and sensitively restored to former glory while still maintaining its historical feel.
A lovely very old quaint pub/hotel.
Stayed for 1 night. Everything was great. Lovely room with comfortable bed (room 5). Fresh and clean. Toiletries, coffee/milk/tea and towels supplied. Spacious room. Very friendly staff. Michelle the manager very welcoming and we felt at ease straight away. Car parking available and free parking too!. In the centre of Tewkesbury so local to all shops/cafes/ restaurants erc. Would definitely stay here again.
Location was excellent, close to the town centre and places of interest. The room was a great size and extremely clean and comfortable. The staff were great, really helpful and polite. The hotel provided a fan for the room which was welcomed due to the heat. No noise from the the pub downstairs which surprised us. Evening meal and breakfast was good. Great value for money would definitely stay again.
River Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in. It was only a few minutes walk into the town centre which had an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants on offer. Tewkesbury was a lovely place to visit and very dog friendly.
The Cottage was very comfortable and the hosts had left us milk, bread and a selection of local goodies.
It was very well equipped with all we needed to enjoy our stay.
The breakfast was amazing, full English very filling. The room was large and warm and the bed very comfortable we even had a spare room. The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much to ask. The location was great not too far to walk into centre of town just a couple of minutes. The hotel is right over the road from the Abbey which is beautiful. Tewkesbury is a lovely place to visit.
A beautiful location on a hill just outside Tewkesbury town centre ( about a mile ?) with plenty of parking . Very comfortable room with lovely views . Excellent food . We had a delicious dinner at a reasonable price . Recommend the Sunday Brunch too . Good breakfast included. Loved the swimming pool . All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Already booked for next year .
Modern apartment in central location with parking for one car. Location, parking, heating, lighting, beds & bedding, towels, kitchen & dining facilities and TV were excellent. Seating area is a little small but was comfortable and OK for our family of two overnight and one daytime visitor. The outdoor area would have been an added bonus if the weather had been kinder.
This is our second visit to the Shepherds Rest, and the weekend was chosen round availability at this property, wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Tewkesbury. Location is fantastic, apartment is exceptionally clean, all the amenities are there.
Katrina is a wonderful host, checks you've arrived safely, got everything you need etc
We were attending the annual medieval festival in Tewkesbury. This little house was perfectly located, close to town centre bus stops and a comfortable walk from the festival site, as well as the Abbey. The house is well fitted out with much care, it's compact and comfortable. It helped make our stay very enjoyable.
Room one had a fantastic view of sunset, great wide comfortable bed, spacious bathroom with a powerful shower.
Elizabethan style hotel perfect, decor and fittings superb.
Staff pleasant and helpful.
The food delicious, enjoyed both the evening meal and breakfast.
Great location, Tewkesbury a lovely ancient town.
Excellent place. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Shower is amazing. Its a very easy flat walk into town centre ( took us 11 minutes). There is a pub about 5 minutes walk if you want something closer. We even watched a film on Netflix before retiring for the evening. Highly recommended
Good for exploring Tewkesbury - within walking distance of the town centre. The house is clean and well organised, especially in the kitchen and laundry. It was great to have a private courtyard area in which to enjoy our morning coffee, and everything was clean, neat and tidy.
Everything. The hotel was well placed for the town centre. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious and piping hot when it arrived.
The place was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Nice breakfast and a large breakfast menu. The scrambled egg looked lovely but we opted for a full English. A great location for Tewkesbury town centre.
Helpful message explaining how best to get to the car park. Room was a decent size with air conditioning. Central location for walking around Tewkesbury. A good breakfast in a pleasant conservatory area.
The staff were really friendly and always had a smile for us, and the location could not be beaten. The food was well prepared and there was a nice seating area outside to enjoy the weather.
Extremely clean and well maintained hotel. Breakfast was lovely. Twin room was spacious, bright and comfortable. Very good location with easy access to Tewkesbury!
