Maggie gave such a warm welcome. She gave lots of local knowledge on the area, with ideas of things to do, places to go and local events. Breakfast was fabulous (local produce well prepared), around the farmhouse table, getting all guests chatting together. She also went out of her way to cater for gluten free which was much appreciated. Location was very handy for walking in Studley Royal Deer Part / Fountains Abbey, visiting Ripon, Harrogate/Knaresborough etc etc

Mallard Grange is a 16th-century farmhouse set half a mile from the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey. The market town of Ripon, famous for Newby Hall and the stunning cathedral, is only 10 minutes’ drive from the property.

These generously spacious rooms are decorated to high standards. They boast an private bathroom with bathrobes and free toiletries, a flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi. 2 rooms are on the ground floor, the other rooms are in the Farm House, and accessible via a winding staircase.

Breakfast, made of locally sourced ingredients, is served daily and includes a traditional Yorkshire breakfast, locally smoked haddock and kippers. Guests can enjoy succulent food in the country inns and restaurants 10 minutes’ drive away.

Conveniently located 9 miles from Harrogate, Mallard Grange offers easy access to Harlow Carr, and Ripley Castle. Guests can enjoy exploring the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.

  • Any Restaurants nearby?
    We are based on a farm in a countryside location, 3 miles from Ripon which has a good selection of places to eat. Within a 3 mile radius there are some lovely country inns and only a mile from us is Grantley Hall Hotel. When guests book I usually send out a list of places so they can book ahead if they wish.   • What time is breakfast served on Sat am? We would like to go to Park run at fountains abbey at 0900.
    Usually between 8.30 a.m. and 9 p.m., however, I have offered previous Park runners an earlier breakfast - or a continental style breakfast post run. Regards Maggie

  • Is there a ground floor twin room?
    Two rooms are on the ground floor. They have zip and link beds so can be big super king doubles or twin beds. One room has a walk in shower. Please give me the dates so I can let you know if a ground floor room is available. Maggie

Mallard Grange Farmhouse is over 500 years old, has a lot of character and is rather quirky with the odd creak and groan, but has a lovely friendly atmosphere. The home of the Johnson family since 1933 and offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation to guests since 1993.
There is lots to do and see in this area; for history lovers, Fountains Abbey World Heritage Site is less than a mile away. Markenfield Hall, Ripley Castle and Newby Hall are also within a short drive. For garden lovers the RHS Garden is just a 25 mile drive away, Newby Hall has wonderful herbaceous boarders blooming all summer long. For music lovers check out Ripon and Harrogate Festivals. Or just borrow a map and drive or walk in some stunning countryside before dinner at an excellent local country inn or restaurant.
