This hotel is situated within the Pollock residential campus of the University of Edinburgh, which might be a little disconcerting at first if you are not there for university-related reasons. It is a short walk from Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat, which is wonderful for fresh air and exercise. We had a largish room with a huge, very comfortable bed (two singles pushed together) and windows with a view. The bathroom had an excellent rain shower. Everything was spick and span, and was cleaned every day. The choice at breakfast (not included in our room charge)was very good despite these restricted times, including a hot Scottish breakfast with all the trimmings if desired. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Our room was very clean and comfortable with modern facilities and we especially liked the tea tray with good quality tea and filter coffee on offer. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of cooked food options. The hotel ensured everyone was safe with good Covid 19 measures in place throughout. We enjoyed the short daily walk into centre of Edinburgh. All in all the Hotel provided excellent value for money and the free parking was a real bonus. Definitely recommend!

The Mansion House traditional rooms are all unique in size and style and the house is full of period features from the 18th Century. Masson rooms are spacious and modern, and all have top of the range Elite mattresses and new fitted bathrooms with rainfall showers. All of the rooms have large TVs with a wide choice of Freeview channels, free WiFi, and a work desk. Rooms also include a great selection of premium ground cafetiere coffee and award-winning teas. The bathrooms come with fluffy towels and complimentary Arran Aromatics bath and shower gels.
Masson House is where the reception, lounge and restaurant are located. Relax in the Lounge with a drinks and food menu available from 14.00 daily, before going out to explore the City, or enjoying dinner in the Bistro. The hotel also offers room service in both the Mansion House and Masson rooms.
Breakfast is also served in Masson House and offers an extensive range of cold buffet items while hot items are cooked to order, using local produce when possible, including Charles Macleod Stornoway black pudding, Hornig's haggis and Borders' sausages.
