Yvonne was an amazing host, checking we were ok and seeing if we needed anything else. Nice touches like a bottle of wine and condiments for our meals. The beds were very comfy. The views were amazing. Very relaxing stay rural stay but just a 15 min walk to 2 pubs. Nice to be able to park easily right outside the property too.

The location was perfect for us as only a short drive into the next valley to visit our son and family which was the reason for our trip. But we did have a big family meal for 9 (what a treat after not seeing each other for 18 months!) at The Dog Inn in the village, which was excellent. We didn't spend much time in the house as we were visiting family but it was spacious and well equipped. The garden was particularly nice and could imagine other guests would enjoy sitting in it.

    Hi. Yes, re-scheduling is always an option if plans need to change. In addition, I am able to offer a full refund if plans have to change due to COVID rules.

    Yes, there are blackout blinds on the skylight windows, as there are in both of the other bedrooms too.

  • We've booked this to attend a dog show in August. If the dog show gets cancelled within the60 days due to Covid would you honour a full refund? Thanks
    Cancellations due to changes in COVID restrictions, will be 100% refunded (minus any booking fees which I don't have access to).

    Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome, but we do ask that they don't go on beds or any other furniture. There is an enclosed garden at the rear of the property.

Midsummer Barn is a cosy, comfortable barn conversion, which overlooks it's own enclosed garden, and our farmland. Fantastic views towards the Fylde Coast. Quite but within easy reach of the towns of Blackburn and Darwen. Lots of toys and games for children provided, as well as high chair, stair gates, and cots.
As well as running the holiday cottage, we also run a small-holding, where we breed pedigree Kerry Hill sheep, which we exhibit at local shows throughout the summer. If you come in the spring, you may be lucky enough to see our lambs running and jumping around.
Midsummer Barn is situated on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, near the village of Belthorn. There is fantastic walking direct from the cottage. Belthorn used to be a weaving and mining village, and now boasts Lancashire's first Community-owned pub, The Dog Inn at Belthorn, which has an excellent restaurant.
