Mount Barker is a large, detached, Victorian house, in one acre of grounds, situated very close to Grantown on Spey, town centre. The interior has recently been lovingly restored and refurbished to exacting standards, solely, for the convenience and comfort of our guests. All our rooms have high ceilings and the lavish chandeliers throughout the house help create an ambience of opulence and exclusitivity. The bedrooms are spacious with light pouring in from dual aspect windows. The Super King beds are adorned with the highest quality bedding and the bathrooms have incredibly high - end fixtures and underfloor heating. The morning room is bright and airy and guests can enjoy a sumptuous cooked breakfast at a round table, overlooking a large, spacious front lawn. This room, with its log - burning stove, doubles as the guest lounge, and a place to relax in the evening, have pre dinner drinks and share tales of the day's adventures. We provide the use of a large tiled Boot Room for storing outside clothing, golf bags, fishing rods, rucksacks, etc. We have ample private parking for cars and a secure garage for motorcycles and bicycles.
As enthusiasts for all things outdoor, we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to live within the Cairngorms National Park, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Being the UK's largest National Park, it offers endless activities throughout the year including water sports, snow sports, wildlife watching and the most amazing high and low level walking and cycling routes. With all those options in mind, apart of course for the Speyside whisky distilleries, it was the abundance of beautiful, scenic, golf courses which attracted us to this area in the first instance. We were spoilt for choice but finally decided upon the Boat of Garten where we are both members. We also take every opportunity to experience all the other wonderful courses in the vicinity throughout the year. In the winter, when the conditions allow, we blow the dust of our skis and head for the nearby Cairngorm Mountain, Aviemore or The Lecht.
The Highlands of Scotland are often described as an amazing concoction of culture, history, architecture and unparalleled scenery. The big skies, mind - blowing landscapes, superb food and friendly, hospitable people, make it a wonderful place to come to escape and unwind. Within easy reach of Mount Barker Bed and Breakfast there are nature walks to enjoy, forest trails in which to walk or cycle, the river Spey in which to fish or canoe and spectacular golf courses aplenty. Annual events include, Siberian Husky Club rally, music festivals, Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, walking festivals, Highland Games, Thunder in the Glens - Harley Davidson Motorbike Rally, Chainsaw Carving Championship, Motor Mania - 0ver 500 classic cars in Grantown High Street and many, many more. Christmas and New Year is a special time to visit Grantown with its awesome festive lights, Christmas Parades and Scottish ceilidh dancing in the street during Hogmanay celebrations.
