Munro Cottage is perched above the village of Carbost with stunning views along the sea-loch to the Cuillin Hills beyond, don't be fooled by the description of hills as they are serious mountains to climb, the ridge of the Black Cuillin is the UK's most challenging mountain range and over 10km long and above 3,000 feet in places, the ridge contains 11 Munros and 16 other summits, highest point is Sgurr Alasdair at 3,254.59 feet. This cottage is a completely different style to the others that we have built, it is built into the side of the hillside of our croft and is completed in grey stone and has a living roof off mainly Stone-crop plants. Once you walk down into the cottage you will find everything on one level. The sitting area and fully fitting kitchen is open plan to take advantage of the views, we have full central heating along with a wood stove and of all our houses its the one I spend time in because of the views. There is a small area to the back of the living room where you will find a desk & chair and also an easy chair to read that book you've brought with you The house has Free internet access

We are both natives of Skye and have been letting out self-catering cottages since 1990. We are a typical crofting family as we have a few jobs and not one single occupation. As we let out the cottage on a self-catering basis we will not disturb you but be rest assured that we are just a call away if you need help or advice, and in fact you can see our house up the loch from the cottage.

The village of Carbost is a few minutes walk from the cottage and has a shop, village pub, Doctors surgery, Post Office, Talisker Distillery and The Oyster Shed . From the cottage you can take scenic walks along the road and we are fairly central to most areas by car. Directions When on Skye take the A87 to Sligachan junction, turn onto the A863 and carry on this road for 5 miles. The next turn is onto the B8009, carry on this road until you get to the village of Carbost. Go through the village and past the Distillery, drive up the hill to the sharp bend where you will carry on to the RIGHT, this is the road to Portnalong. Drive for about 30seconds until you see 2 identical houses, these are also ours, where to you find a small grey sign with “ Isle of Skye Hoilday Cottages” and my contact number. You will see a track going down the Croft to the access of Munro Cottage. Park at the back of the cottage and the steps down will be in front of you.
