It did what it said. Cheap hotel room for the family. Clean, great size room, dog friendly, basically on the beach, heart of town, money not going to big corporation like premier. Support your local, lovely hotel that welcomes you. Not our first stay and we will be back

Whitley Bay is a great place for a break away, the beaches are beautiful, lots of walks along the promenade, great fish and chips at Trenchers in the Spanish City, St Mary's lighthouse is worth a visit plus quite good shopping area with some lovely independent shops, good transport facilities you don't really need a car.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops. It also has easy access to Newcastle and the surrounding area by road and by Metro. In the summer Whitley Bay is busy but in the winter it is much quieter. I have visited this town many times while visiting my daughter. On this occasion my visit was not a holiday; I was helping my daughter to move house.

Whitley Bay is ideally place for walks along the coastal path both North up to Blyth and South down to South Shields and the pretty Souter lighthouse. Be sure to try to time a visit to St Mary's lighthouse for a spot of seal spotting. The walks along the promenades down to Tynemouth are all on the level with plenty of eating and drinking options. If time allows be sure to get the tram into Newcastle Central and the train from there to Durham to visit the marvellous cathedral and castle

I loved the walks along the coast to the lighthouse and to see Spanish City. In the opposite direction it is nice to walk along the coast to Cullercoats and on to Tynemouth. The walks are peaceful and the little shops at Tynemouth are lovely. There are plenty of coffee shops along the way and fish and chip shops if you get peckish. Parking is relatively cheap in Cullerboats but you may need to wait if the car park is busy, for someone to get chatting to.

Faulty Towers come to mind 🤣🤣, Although sadly no Manwell. The staff are lovely and friendly. Hotel is dog friendly, although not allowed in the restaurant. They made provisions for me to eat breakfast in the public bar area with my dog, which was fine with me, as my dog is family. The bathroom we had was massive and nicely tiled, although 2 steps to walk into it, the hairdryer looked as though it was installed in the late 80's. Overall I had a comfortable stay for me and my dog. Price was reasonable, Just the hotel needs work

Everything was perfect for our one night stay in Whitley Bay. Very warm welcome from Paul & Lee. From the really comfy bedding, to the good selection of toiletries in the ensuite, from the biscuit selection to the local recommendations for where to eat and drink, our stay at the Metropolitan was excellent. Great location for train station and for making the most of the delights of Whitley Bay.

The location was great, just a few steps from the front. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious with a large bay. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. We had the option of ordering drinks and food from the pub/restaurant either side of the hotel, and taking them to our room. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in lovely Whitley Bay.

Although the hotel didn't provide breakfast, there was a lovely cafe next door where the food was very good, and next door to that is a creperie; over the road is the ubiquitous Wetherspoons. Staff are very friendly with a lot of local knowledge and seem genuinely concerned ensuring our stay was comfortable. The Metro station was a short walk away.
