Beautifully appointed flat - we had everything we needed for our stay. We had breakfast provisions provided which was a lovely touch. The flat was spacious and very clean. Check in was hassle-free and the instructions provided by our hosts were clear. Would highly recommend staying here.

Some of the staff were horrible to the guests very rude and mean, did not allow for communication and said yes and did not then follow thru leaving people waiting for food drinks and services that never arrived. Angery attitude and seemed annoyed to have guest come stay- food was often edible but not at the quality needed for the price!

Loved the eclectic display of Photos & artwork 2D & 3D plus the 4 comfortable lounges and the decor of our bedroom (122) - Andy Warhol prints and (genuine/otherwise) mouse-man furnishings. Shower room facilities very good plus comfortable/constant temperature and warm comfortable bedding. Intriguing Gothic main building and modern annexe.
As requested (due to our age) we were conveniently located on ground floor close to entrance/exit. Marco Pierre also 'graced us' with his presence at breakfast one morning.

Melksham is a busy town whose main claim to fame is its close proximity to the historic abbey and village of Lacock and the short drive to the equally historic town of Bradford on Avon. It is also a relatively short distance from the M4, making a perceived ideal location for a stopover for those heading to the southwest. Melksham is a good base for touring the local area but the town is a little run down with no real quality shops. Quite a lot of traffic passing through the high street but there is a Sainsburys and Waitrose in town so easy to get provisions. Two nice pubs Kings Head and Market Tavern serving good food plus there are Indian, Italian restaurants and various fast food outlets. Also a Wetherspoons pub we went in for a drink but would avoid if we went to Melksham againPaul - 8.0Scored 8.0

Plenty of shops, even more hairdressers (we counted 16!) and a bank with free withdrawals. The Tourist Information Office was great and with plenty of information to hand. Whilst the Kings Arms does have a restaurant, we thought it was a little pricey so we went exploring. There are plenty of takeaways inlcuing Thai, kebabs etc and a dine in / takeaway curry house. For us, the best place to eat was The Market Tavern, just a few yards away from the Hotel. Outstanding cuisine to suit all tastes, utterly fabulous service, a good range of Ales, Ciders and Gins and the food was served quickly. Plenty of walks to do around the town but if you're after a good night life then you won't find much there. Melksham has a Sainsbury's, Waitrose and "Pound" shops, Greggs etc. Overall a beautiful town and worth the visit.

Some nice buildings in typical stone.Shops limited, which is perhaps not surprising with pandemic etc. Has a Waitrose so plenty of parking . Overall very quiet and not very interesting on a winter weekend! Lots of interesting places nearby for tourism eg Lacock. Good as a stopover certainly or possibly as a base for the area..( we were not doing tourist stuff this trip!) Lovely small town, busy though with a small variety of shops and restaurants and pubs. Lovely riverside walk. We ate two nights at the Hotel, once at Refa Tandoori, which we can recommend and once at An Italian restaurant in the town. We recommend a visit to beautiful Castle Combe, a gem of a village. We found Bath very busy and difficult to park.

Cleaning products and towels Nicola was kind welcoming and so very helpful with local pubs and taxis. The Lodge was spotlessly clean yet dog friendly - donkeys and goats grazing outside in paddocks.
