The inn owner asked what we wanted for breakfast and cheerfully prepared what we requested. The inn is centrally located which allowed for walking in the town. Very friendly, engaging owner/managers of the inn. I would certainly recommend.

We happened to bump into the host as we arrived and she gave us a warm welcome. Not only tea and coffee provided, but also some fruit and very nice biscuits. Exceptionally clean property with a well-stocked kitchen. Interesting design. We are hoping to return for another visit.

The prison two hour tour was exceptional.
The prison two hour tour was exceptional. We enjoyed the local church especially its beautiful window and rehearsing organist. The high street, although a little tired , held some interesting shops, attractive restaurants and surrounded by pretty cottagy houses. Nearby was the fascinating wells reclamation yard and Saturdays wells market, cathedral, bishops palace etc. A very successful weekend

Tired old hotel with rooms with peeling paint, broken cupboards and windows and dirty curtains. Had to go up 4 flights of stairs to get to attic room that was being used by the construction staff renovating the spa. Food was limited choice and of porr quality for the money that was being asked and charged. No phone in the room so had to climb up and down 4 flights of stairs to get any service. Issues not addressed and had to check out early, extremely poor hospitality. Do not tale bookings if you cannot provide a basic level of service.

Shelton Mallet seems to be a good representation of smaller, rural communities in Southern England. Beautiful surrounding countryside and closeness to some additional cities of interest such as Wells and Glastonbury. Several good restaurants were recommended by the owners of the inn. it is quite close to wells and other locations with good public transport connections. unfortunately there are only a few restaurants and you ahve to book in advance. we did have a good dinner in the philipine restaurant Aurora Kusina and we reccomend.elenaItaly - 8.0Scored 8.0
The Bath and West ground is literally just a mile away.
The Bath and West ground is literally just a mile away. Local facilities for shopping are also close by. If the weather is good there are beautiful walks and things to do. Where this is, you would definitely need a car to make the most of the surrounding area.

The hotel is around 400 years old & remains quaint with updated features. The room (4) was lovely, huge comfortable bed, massive bathroom with large bath. Also attached was a smaller room with 2 single beds as a family room. We ate in for dinner. Tony cooked dinner to die for. The bar/restaurant area was cosy with an open log fire. Breakfast was cooked to order & again was excellent. We will be back

We also walked into Shepton Mallet one evening and had a great time watching live music at the Art Bank Cafe. The cottage itself was really lovely and characterful, and equipt with everything you need. We enjoyed going back there after a day of exploring to cook a meal and relax infront of the fire with a movie. Would definitely stay again!

It's fantastic value for money with clean, well appointed rooms and the best thing about it is the staff. Friendly and accommodating. Laid back but professional at the same time so that you feel very much welcome and looked after. Definitely booking again and have already recommended to family and friends.

I would absolutely recommend to anyone and will think of it first next time I am visiting the area.
