The Old Coach House, hotel in Portgordon

Located in Buckie and within 16 miles of Elgin Cathedral, The Old Coach House has a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi.

The hotel was absolutley filthy. 1. The staff were not the least bothered about the cleanliness of the hotel. 2. The carpets were ripped and stained. 3. The room was full of flies. 4. The room smelt very very stale. Ive stopped in more pleasant accomodation in rural India!!!!!!! I actually checked out within ten minutes and booked another hotel, I wouldnt let a rat stop in this hotel.

The Granary is just stunning - a perfect mix of traditional and modern. It's bright and spacious - and very well appointed. There was nothing we needed that wasn't to hand. So many great extra touches. Definitely the biggest beds we have slept in in Scotland.

    A lovely quiet village.

A lovely quiet village. That is located well for sightseeing in the area. There isn't any where to shop or eat in the village, but there's plenty of places nearby where you can go to get food. It's very pesceful, which lends itself to a good nights sleep.

Portgordon has the (delightful) air of being quite out of the way, but even by public transport it would have been quite accessible, as would other fascinating places around. It is very quiet. It is a shame for the village that the only shop recently closed. There is one pub - the Lennox. Reviewed elsewhere it gives the impression of an unprepossessing exterior hiding a warm heart; and I would agree with that.

Portgordon, is a great base from which to explore the north East coast of Scotland. Be aware there is not a restaurant in Portgordon, you have to drive along the Coast to Buckie where there is an excellent Indian Restaurant. Go north to Hopeman & Burghead, lovely little Coves and sandy inlets all along the coast. Lovely Restaurant at Burghead.
