Heat was on when we arrived . Lovely home. Information on house and owner we enjoyed. Lots of space in room and hot shower, plus the fact we could turn the heat down at night if we wanted .

Diane Ireland

A nice hotel, located at the town center but the nearest place for dinner is located 25 min walk.

I stayed at the Ossian fir 2 nights to go visit the highland wildlife park. My stay was very good the owner could nit have been any kinder to us.

Very friendly proprietor showed us to our room. It was perfect for our needs. Family enjoyed the stay. No pretentions.Comfy nights sleep. Excellent value for money, it was less expensive than the Youth Hostel. It allowed us to meet up with family and have a great wee escape to the Cairgorms at an affordable budget. Thanks!

Tony the propreitor was super lovely and very welcoming. Our room was very comfy, with a double bed and 4 bunk bed which the 3 kids loved as there was a spare :-) The property is undergoing renovations at the moment (Sept 2019) so cannot really comment on the rest of the place as we did not go there. The garden and grouns are lovely, and the location was handy to Aviemore.

Helen United Kingdom

Gorgeous property in an absolutely stunning location. Host extremely helpful and friendly. It’s by no means luxury, but was absolutely fine for us. The night sky is stunning. Everything was very comfortable and just a couple of miles from the highlands country park, which is what we came for.

Anwyn United Kingdom

This is a beautiful property that is clearly being renovated and upgraded. You can see evidence of improvements in every room and we look forward to visiting again once the upgrades are further along. This is a stunning building with good bones that merits saving, so it’s nice to see somebody willing to take that on. The rooms are adequate and comfortable, and very well priced.

Bruce United Kingdom

We got a big family room with very comfortable beds. We liked the idea of no staff, and that your name is simply displayed on the entrance door at arrival and the keys are waiting for you at the room. Something lovely which could only be done in the country side/Highlands without worrying that the TV will be stolen. It was nice to have the DVD player and a big selection of kids films.

Nb Netherlands

Self chek-in and check-out - that was great if you don't have completely scheduled holiday. The mansion was beatiful and staff amazing.

Jana United Kingdom

Its an old building so it was kinda cosy. Just stayed for one night on our way to Edinburgh so we didnt spend much time there. Really nice staff.

I searched Booking.com for a Bed & Breakfast facility close to where I had an early appointment the next day and this was the nearest I could find... but it didn't fulfil the search criteria correctly because there is no breakfast provided and let out on a 'room only' basis. This is a Booking.com issue because there is a 'no refund policy after booking' but it wasn't made clear there is no breakfast provided until AFTER the booking was made and a payment taken! At the accommodation there was no proper reception area and 'checking in' was simply a typed notice sellotaped to the main entrance door with instructions for the daily visitors . No staff was seen during the entire stay. Although there was a TV in the room it had no remote to operate it and the TV reception was so poor it frequently cut out it certainly wasn't enjoyable watching anything! I also had to drive back and forth to Aviemore to get an evening meal which was inconvenient too. In all honesty staying at a Youth Hostel would've been a far better experience and much less expensive.

Sadly there was nothing I liked about staying at this accommodation. The only, but a very marginal positive point is, there was a two sided laminated explanation in the room about how and why the property was being used as it is. However, no matter how noble the owners reasons are, it doesn't mitigate any traveller's disappointment on seeing the premises on arrival or the extremely low overall standard of accommodation provided and experienced.

Already when walking around the house to find the entrance you know that this is a construction site, not a homely guest house. The owner, Tony, explained that he is in the process of remodeling the whole house to turn it into a veteran home. A sticky brochure will explain further that all money paid for accommodation will be directed at the remodel. Turning the house into a veteran home is without a doubt a noble goal. The rooms, however, are in desperate need of attention from their owner. Doors don’t close, water doesn’t turn hot, the carpet is 50 shades of disgusting; don’t even ask what I found when Darin to peek down the edge of the bed in search for a socket. This is not worth whatever money it is offered for. This wouldn’t even pass as the cheapest hostel bed in the whole of the highlands.

The house looks old and mysterious from the outside.

Dirty linens. If the towels are grey and thin, how do we know the linens were washed? The mattress was so broken down you rolled off the side unless in the middle on a hump. Musty.

There was literally nothing good to say about this facility. Dirty, unmanaged-no one on property at all, misrepresented in their Booking.com description. The owner spent more time listing his supposed attributes/accomplishments displayed in each room than cleaning. The towels were thin and grey, piecemeal carpets, paint and furnishings. We spent the night before in Dundee at a Best Western for the same price and had a delightful, clean and highly functional accomodations. Ossians was the opposite. We'd have left and gone elsewhere but other properities were full. He got our money but we get our review. This was as bad as the worst Hostel for three times the price. A dump.

Cleanliness of the room and lack of warmth even with heating on.

Easy accessible location to local attractions near by.

The room is a hole without a proper bathroom door(!), it should be illegal to ask money for this excuse for a room. Terrible and dirty.

Location is stunning, the owners should step up and make this place better, because it could be amazing.
