Stunning oldie world beamed rooms with Tudor widows and featured brick chimney breast in the top stair way. Large rooms with old fashioned feature furniture. Uneven floors and ceilings which enhances the ambience. Lovely clean crisp white bedding. The location is fantastic, the building looks down onto the steep hill and looks wonderful at Christmas with the lights strung across the street. It is an imposing building nestled between the cathedral and castle. As other reviews have commented it may need a lick of paint, but it really doesn’t matter as it adds to the shabby sheik character.
United KingdomWe stayed here for 1 night as a last minute booking. The staff at Bail House were most helpful when we encountered an electrical fault-coming to the property immediately to assist. The property itself was very spacious and clean, with fresh laundered bedding and towels. A very Victorian feel to it and as a grade 2 listed building, despite no double glazing there is ample heating. Situated at the top of a steep hill with reasonable priced parking less than a minutes walk away with a stunning view of the castle and catherdral this is a brilliant location. Despite a pub opposite we were unaffected by any noise. Will definitely stay again \o/
