Beautiful scenery and incredibly spacious rooms. The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. Thoroughly recommend!

The house is absolutely beautiful and in a stunning location; the view from the breakfast room is unbelievably beautiful. Mark was a brilliant host; interesting and interested, keen to ensure his guests are comfortable and happy. Breakfast was really nice and our room was well appointed and very comfortable; also really large!!! It is a quick walk to Tremadoc, although dark when returning late at night - bring a torch! The property was very clean and Covid safe.

THE PROPERTY IS SITUATED ON THE SIDE OF THE HILL OVERLOOKING THE VALLEY. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL VIEW AND THE PROPERTY IS STUNNING. THE PIECE AND QUIET MADE THE STAY SO RELAXING. MARK AND HOWARD ARE TRULY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THEY ONLY HAVE THREE ROOMS I COULD BE SELFISH AND SAY DON'T GO BUT I CAN'T ITS A FABULOUS PLACE ,TREAT YOURSELF HAVE A MEMORABLE BRAEK.

We had a really comfortable stay in this lovely historical country house which has fantastic views. The host was welcoming and helpful in every way and we had a delicious vegetarian breakfast. We will plan another visit and stay longer next time!

Lovely countryside getaway. Loved the four poster bed which was so comfy! The place was spotless and cozy. Thanks to the lovely owners for a great stay. We wish we could have stayed longer.

It’s difficult to put into words how amazing this place is... everything has been exceptional from the finest detail to the atmosphere of the place. Mark has been a fantastic host and we would highly recommend you come and experience this beautiful part of the world for yourself.

Host Information
Perched high on a hillside and nestled amongst some 40 acres of ancient woodlands with long lensed views over the Glaslyn Estuary, Ffestiniog Steam Railway to the plantagenet castle of Harlech and mountains beyond. Plas Tan-Yr-Allt was the first Regency Villa in North Wales built by William Madocks the esteemed philanthropist and entrepreneur. His vantage point "spectaculaire" to observe his newly constructed Cob, the then gateway to the areas mountain quarries and bustling international port of Porth Madoc (Madocks Port / Porthmadog) and Tre Madoc (Madocks Town / Tremadog) with its aptly named London and Dublin Streets respectively. All designed and built in typical Madocks style - the architecture very much thought out and in the latest "rigueur du jour".Captivated by the idyllic of all settings the 18th century literary superstar Percy.B.Shelley completed his most famous of works Queen Mab "All things are recreated". Other noted residents include Elizabeth Billington the opera singer of her day, E.F Benson of Mapp & Lucia provenance, Miss Mary Hilda Greaves the aunt of Portmerion founder and architect "extraordinaire" Sir Clough Willams-Ellis - all to name but a few.
Porthmadog is essentially a gateway to the stunning Glaslyn Valley at the southern edge of the Vale of Ffestiniog which leads directly to Beddgelert and the main peaks of the Snowdonia National Park, including Snowdon. It is also home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway - both of which pass through some incredible scenery. The world famous Italianate village of Portmeirion designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis is also a stone's throw away from the house. The sandy beaches of Borth-y-Gest and the famous Black Rock Sands at Morfa Bychan are all within a 10 minute drive.Golf in the area is well provided for with courses at Harlech, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Nefyn and Abersoch. We are based in the centre of the Snowdonia National Park and are ideally placed for all the attractions that North Wales has to offer.
