Lovely gem of a place, so peaceful it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Yet it was just a short distance from all local amenities. The hosts were lovely and even provided a Cornish Cream team for arrival. Would love to stay again next time we're in the area.

Quiet, secluded natural setting. Owners made us feel welcome and comfortable. Facilities well-maintained and very clean.

The lodge was very well appointed and very well equipped for a comfortable stay. The location is ideal for travelling around Cornwall. The owners were very attentive and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. On arrival there was a cream tea waiting and because it was a birthday celebration holiday there were cards as well.

Absolutely stunning location, clean, cosy, comfortable, beautiful. Lots of nice little touches, it made us feel very welcoming. The Cornish cream tea was delicious, we had a wonderful stay.

Lovely location , great host and every comfort we needed for an overnight stay . Lovely peaceful lakeside location

The location is wonderful, Vanda is wonderful. Just a perfect getaway for me and the dogs, already looking at booking up again soon

For my partners birthday I planned a trip around Cornwall as she'd never been before. To finish the trip I wanted something extra special where we could relax before our journey home. I booked Polgwedhen Lodge for this. It exceeded my expectations in every way and my partner was extremely happy too. When we arrived there were tea and scones ready to eat, and the place was well kitted out and cleaned to a very high standard. The rowing boat on the pond was the icing on the cake. We will definitely stay there again in the future and highly recommend it to friends.

A lovely 3 night stay, quiet, relaxing and beautiful what more do you need. Vanda was a lovely lady and very helpful 😊

Beautiful setting. Quiet. Lots of nature. Lovely to meet the owner in person. Best staycation we have had in ages. Lovely touch from the owner - leaving us scones and cream. Super cute. Exceptionally clean venue. Perfect couples retreat. Thanks Vanda :)

We liked the scones and was able to make a cup of tea after a long journey. The view of the lake was lovely to wake up to and the cabin was lovely and clean we were really pleased with our stay highly recommended.

To watch out great promotional video, go to youtube and type in polgwedhen lodge. Polgwedhen Lodge is really special because of its truly private and secluded location. It is within the 10 acres which comprises our smallholding, but it has its own driveway off the main drive. The farmhouse is the only other property, but it does not overlook the Lodge, and the Lodge does not overlook the farmhouse. Sometimes, people are under the impression that this is one of several lodges, but this is not the case. Polgwedhen Lodge is the only one and enjoys its glorious lakeside location all on its own. Even better, it occupies the sunniest spot on the whole property! We live in the farmhouse, and we like to say that we are on hand if needed, but that we do not intrude. This is the perfect hideaway for a romantic break, or to unwind and take in the peace of the natural environment around you, whilst still enjoying easy access to both North and South coasts and all the best attractions in Cornwall.
We are former hoteliers and we ran a very beautiful Georgian Country House hotel with lovely grounds of 11 acres for 20 years, just a little way away from Polgwedhen, near St. Agnes. We sold the hotel only because our energy levels were not as high as they were 20 years previously! We searched for a secluded property in beautiful surroundings, which matched our hotel, in which to make our home, and Polgwedhen ticked all the boxes. Having been in the hospitality industry for so long, we missed it, so we decided upon a self-catering property within our grounds, and Polgwedhen Lodge was born. We love it here, and we hope that you will too!
You are never far from the sea in Cornwall, and Polgwedhen is well situated to reach both coasts. Surfing, swimming, sailing, fishing, cliff walking, enjoying amazing scenery and an awesome natural environment or just lazing on the beach and acquiring a tan are all everyday activities. The Great Gardens of Cornwall, famous for wonderful collections of camellias, rhododendrons and magnolias are not to be missed. Some are National Trust owned, some are privately owned, but they are all well worth a visit. Cornwall has become well know as a foodie destination and the choice of high quality restaurants is enormous, headed up by household name chefs such as Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and Nathan Outlaw. And don't forget those iconic destinations such as the Eden Project, the National Maritime Museum, Heligan Gardens, The Tate St Ives, and many more. The recent Poldark TV series has brought focus to the Cornish landscape and whilst you are here you can follow the Poldark trail. To help our guests make the most of their stay, we have produced a speci document, "The Best of Cornwall", which highlights the best places to see and the best things to do in each area of the county
