We loved EVERYTHING, this was our first international trip and we could not have found a more gracious, caring host and lovely room and grounds. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings, very easy to get around on the bus or rail to Edinburgh and the Royal Mile. Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast were delightful and very filling and our host also provided advise to sights and attractions. Wish we could have stayed longer. I look forward to staying here again on our next visit to beautiful Scotland.

Built in 1852, Rathan House - The Eskbank is based just 7 miles outside of the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh. An enchanting guest house, it features a sun terrace, a beautiful garden with croquet lawn and free on-site parking. Rathan House has a Thistle award, 4-star quality rating and a 'Taste of Scotland' award from Scottish Tourist Board quality assessment. Authentic Hebridean breakfasts are offered within a 1920's designed dining room that is decorated with 19th century portraits. The breakfast includes fresh fruit salad, porridge cream and honey, and classic Spealtragan. Kintail kippers and fresh Ettrick salmon and 6 other cooked options. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. The charming rooms are equipped with an private bathroom with a shower, tea and coffee making facilities and a TV. Local attractions include Edinburgh Castle and St. Andrew Square which are both 22 minutes’ drive away. Arthur’s seat and The Royal Mile are also a short 17-minute car journey away.
