To be honest, we made Shrewsbury a stop off point as we travelled to Wales for a weeks cottage holiday. We stopped on the 'way down' and on the 'way back', to break up long journeys.
However, from our two half days in Shrewsbury it looks like a place for longer stays. The museum and art gallery were very interesting. The shopping areas were very good, with a good mix of larger names (M&S, Sea Salt, White Stuff ...) and independents. There were many eating places, but obviously we weren't able to make use of all but two in the town, both of which were very good.
It looks like a place we will return to!

Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. Several places to park all within a short distance of the centre.

The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. Hidden in nooks and crannies are such delights as the old post office the old prison and boutiques.
Don't miss The Dingle gardens as you take the walk.

An absolute surprise - we spent all day just walking round Shrewsbury and being delighted by what we found - including the Market Hall which is something we don't see many of in the south of England.

This was our second time in Shrewsbury and still lots to see and do. The prison is a must to visit and is well worth the entrance fee, especially is you do the self guided tour. The majority of the pubs and independant shops are dog friebdly, which is a huge bonus if your four legged friend is with you. The blitz hill museum in Ironbridge is worth a visit. We paid £26.50 each entrance fee but it was well worth the money and ypu could spend all day there looking at and interacting with the exhibits. There are some oldy worldy little streets to walk down and a walk along the river is a must. The darwin trail is well worth doing, very interesting and comoletely free
I was expecting a low quality hotel at the price we paid. What we got was far better. The reception staff were charming and helpful. The room was spacious, modern and clean and tidy. There was a great range of tea, coffee etc in the room, the beds were comfortable with extra pillows on hand. The building looked well maintained. The hotel is very central and there is reasonable quality food on offer in the bar if you want it. Lots of hot water, which is what you need on a bike tour. Shrewsbury is a great town to explore.
Really good full English breakfast at a reasonable price. Small clean room with comfortable bed with adjustable heating and plenty of hot water for the bath. Curry and Steak nights with beer were excellent as was the Bingo Night on Thursday night which was packed with friendly locals. Staff friendly and helpful and pub directly connected to Hotel so getting to/from pub easy, beer price reasonable with discounted beer on Mondays. Close to Sainsburys, Home Bargains and Shrewsbury Abbey
The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the breakfast was excellent. The location really convenient. The hotel was excellent value for money. Within 30 minutes of checking out I received a phone call telling me I'd left my phone charger behind, so was able to retrieve it before going home.
Great location in the middle of Shrewsbury. Olde worlde character of the hotel but the rooms have been modernised and updated. Great restaurant - we had breakfast and dinner. What really made it special was the welcome from manager Charlie and her team - seriously above and beyond. We laughed with them throughout our stay.
This was a break away for my mum and I, shopping trip to Shrewsbury and a night in a hotel. Exceptional coaching house hotel. Beautifully appointed, everything tastefully done. Wonderful breakfast, lovely to eat home made food cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and polite. Overall the perfect girly trip.
A beautiful apartment, fully equipped, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. Also the owner has paid a lot of attention to detail. There was a very thoughtful welcome pack waiting for us 💓 many thanks. If anyone is going to visit Shrewsbury and needing accommodations, no need to look further.
This was a great alternative to a hotel room. With this 2 bedroom apartment, although fairly small, it was larger than just a hotel room and had kitchen and laundry facilities which is helpful. It was an easy walk into town and we found a park for the car across the road.
Located just on the edge of Shrewsbury town centre, it's a good distance from the river and restaurants with 2 parking spaces available and a corner shop next door. Mostly as described but angles towards an airbnb vibe more than a hotel or cottage stay.
A very warm welcome to a beautiful hotel with lovely facilities, very clean room and comfy bed. Excellent location for exploring Shrewsbury town centre on foot. Highly recommend, so much so that we have booked again!
We liked the room (Prince Rupert Suite) and staying in an historical building in the centre of Shrewsbury. Breakfast was excellent. Action to address our check in issue after we complained.
Beautiful surroundings. Calming and relaxing. Close to Shrewsbury where I was visiting my friend. Lovely pool. The staff were friendly and approachable. Always smiling. Thank you so much.
Bed was very comfortable and room was quiet so slept well. The breakfast was tasty and staff very welcoming and helpful. If ever visiting Shrewsbury again, we would return to this hotel.
The place is well located in the middle of town, next to the prison Museum and Shrewsbury train station. Walking distance to town center. The apartment is clean and with many amenities.
We like small, quirky boutique Hotels and Darwin's Kitchen was perfect. Good atmosphere in the bar, good food , charming room. Well located near the middle of Shrewsbury,
