Peterborough came across as poor and unloved.
I walked through the centre of town on a Wednesday night around 10:30 and did not feel safe - not normally affected like this.
There are groups of homeless people around the town, not necessarily bothering people but they need support and shouldn’t be left to roam the streets. Far more homeless here than anywhere I visited recently.
This was a work visit, I would not visit for pleasure

Beautiful cathedral, nice new shopping centre. The rest of the town a bit run down, many homeless people....
We should have gone for a curry instead of having dinner at the bull....

Peterborough not the best city in the world, but a few shops to mooch about it, and plenty of places to eat and drink. Mum and I took a trip to the cinema. Was nice. This hotel IS NOT in the town centre. Its a little drive. But that is what we wanted.

Cathedral area well worth a visit.
Cathedral area well worth a visit.
Nene Park area lovely with good flat walking and nice refreshments available. Excellent pitch n putt course.
Nene valley railway station at Peterborough worth a visit to eco garden area.
Plus train trips.
Flag fen on outskirts is definitely worth a look, really interesting and a nice walk too.
Like all cities there are some less charming areas! But some good cafes in town, Gossip good coffee and Fratellis in Rivergate for coffee and breakfast. Oh and East on the river for Asian fusion food and to sit in a boat!

There is a excellent centre that has a good variety of restaurants, shops and corner little shops. Named chains and independent retailers. There is also historical aspects if you want to know more about Peterborough's history. There are reasonable priced car parking places. If not wanting to drive the coach and train stations are very local if you want to leave the car at home!.
The scenes in tbe back with the ducks etc-
I was competing in the PCA PETERBOROUGH my car actually broke down before the show. Riley your hotel staff is another level of customer service. I've been a manager for over 10 years and I have never came across an employee like Riley ! She is a credit to Dragonfly Hotel. Even the checking in she was so welcoming - then with my car issue she had gone above and beyond too help me - you will be expecting a thank you present for Riley please ensure she receives it xx I placed also 🥉
The hotel is absolutely fantastic (except as below). It's real bricks and mortar right next door to as good a motorway services as you will find anywhere (Peterborough Services Extra). The rooms are large and have an art nouveau design. All Gröhe plumbing fittings. Quiet, effective air conditioning. What's not to like? I really couldn't quite believe how good it was for the location and price. I would readily stay there again .... and I stayed 5 nights.
Being a fair bit cheaper than local "budget chain" hotels, I was not expecting much, so was pleasantly surprised how large and clean the room was. Only met one member of staff who quickly checked me in and was very helpful. The location is about 10 minutes walk to the main shopping area and really convenient for Peterborough United. As somewhere for the night which is cheap yet decent this place fits the bill.
The staff were lovely, often working in difficult circumstances. This is a great location, just by the railway station, very convenient for public transport and the town centre. It's an old hotel with a lot of history and retains features that hints at its past. I really wanted to have an excellent stay...
Nearly 100 years ago my grandmother worked here as a daily...
But...
Staff were lovely and helped us to relax. The room was basic but excellent value for money. Great breakfast. 2 restaurants on site and walking distance to others. It's a beautiful building set in beautiful grounds and easily accessible. Spa was great. Pool was a great size. Peterborough is great for eating and shopping too with a beautiful Cathedral.
It's a boutique hotel with interesting decoration in the common areas. We had a big room overlooking the main road and a church so it was bit noisy from traffic throughout the night but not excessively.
The Turkish restaurant downstairs does nice meals but you have to bring your own booze. Breakfast served in your room.
I loved the homely feeling rather than that of a hotel. Also Andi and Mark were so friendly and amazing hosts, the area was great with lots of places to eat and lovely walks and parks nearby. And Frankie was amazing too, hard not to be with a name like that.
Staff very friendly. Our room was big with a large bathroom.
The breakfast was very good
Our whole experience at this hotel was excellent and relaxing .we would recommend the hotel and plan to stay here again.
Room temperature was freezing with the out side temperature was minus 8 on 21st January, also bed smell in the room from the carpet or smoking even though hotel is non smoking
Very uncomfortable mattress
This was a brilliant place to stay near to Peterborough city centre. The kitchenette was really useful. All was clean and bed comfortable. Would fully recommend. Even had a TESCO express across the road.
The staff were absolutely lovely! We were visiting family over Christmas and my daughter was given a Christmas present from the hotel! Food was good, and the pool was great!
Lovely hotel. Well situated in Peterborough City centre. Breakfast was well organised and delicious. Staff very polite and friendly. Rooms were very clean.
