Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Center, shopping in Cardiff is fantastic. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a short rest or meal. Those by Cardiff Bay have particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Center. Another year 2,000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and soccer matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city center.
Cardiff is a great City. The people are amazing really friendly and helpful if you get lost. Lots to see and do whether you like shopping, dining out or historic attractions. A return trip is most certainly on my list!

Didn't spend too much time in the city itself as we only went for a night to go to a music gig. That said Cardiff has changed a lot since I was last there 20 years ago. Much cleaner and more vibrant. I loved the shopping arcades that were only a stones throw from the railway station, the sports stadium and plenty of guest houses.
I do recommend some sort of map once you are in the city shopping area. I am pretty much ok but the person I was with has the sense of direction of a deranged lemming and once we got to the central shopping area she got totally lost.
Plenty of cheap places to eat and drink if you look, that cater to all tastes, ethnicity and diet. There are a multiplicity of stores that can offer everything from cute 'Welsh Dragon' plush toy stores to an entire shop dedicated to just selling Lego (Other building block construction kits are available!)
One massive plus is it so easy to get to places if you know where you are going. The fact that all the areas to shop, eat drink are in a pedestrianised location that has no vehicles AT ALL is great.

Cardiff is a lovely city that is close to many cool sights.
Cardiff is a lovely city that is close to many cool sights. The Cardiff castle is beautiful and right in the city center with a large park next to it. The people are friendly, and it’s cheaper than other areas in the UK. Cardiff is very walkable, and the public transport includes trains, local buses, and regional buses like FlixBus. We stayed for five days, which was perfect to explore the city and surrounding area. I recommend visiting the Welsh parliament, the Pierhead building, St Fagan’s open air museum, Castell Coch, and the Caerphilly castle.

Great transport links and people were friendly if I stopped to ask about local buses etc.
It was easy to explore with my 6yr old and enough to keep us busy for a couple of days.
We visited the Museum, Castle, played Treetop golf at St.Davids and the choice of places to eat was brilliant.

Cardiff is a friendly city with a compact city centre with plenty of shopping and a great selection of some truly outstanding bars. Great restaurants too. Well connected to London.
Great walking city. Plenty to see in the bay area too.
I had initially booked the Hotel a few weeks ago and had then to cancel as the course I was booked on got cancelled. The owners of the Hotel were so nice to not charge any cancellation fees that's why I decided to book again. This time I could come as my course was rescheduled. A very nice and warm welcome by staff on arrival. The Hotel is slightly outdated but unique in its way and has its own charm. Nice and clean room with a very comfy bed. Well located right in the city centre of Cardiff.
The room was large and comfortable with a great view of Cardiff Bay. The air conditioning was a welcome surprise as it was still quite warm when I was there. The staff was super-friendly and helpful. I loved being able to swim and book a massage at the spa. The breakfasts had a wide range of choices; and lunch and dinner were delicious. I was there at the end of a busy two-week trip and voco Saint David provided the perfect finishing touch.
Located at a former dock basin; quiet, yet easily accessible. Large twin-room suite, modern and well-equipped including a kitchenette. Breakfast with a nice selection (continental as well as British).
The bay/waterfront is less than twenty minutes walking distance away; Cardiff city centre is in similar proximity. A supermarket is next door.
Everything was just perfect as they literally thought about everything you need , not only the cutlery but milk in the fridge, sugar teabags etc etc. good value of the money nice location just opposite cardiff bay parking space aswell. You can’t find something like this with this much money 👍
This is an absolutely fantastic boutique hotel and one of the best we have ever stayed in. The attention was superb and the food was excellent. The staff were attentive and extrmely helpful. We will defnitely stay again when we visit Cardiff. A little gem in the heart of the city!
More or less everything….easy to get to…very clean and tidy…nice friendly staff.
Good sized rooms, which were also very quiet.
Good location next to Cardiff Bay, and a short distance to Cardiff city centre, less than £5.00 for an Uber.
Great steakhouse just outside the hotel.
The hotel is in the middle of both Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Bay so access to them both is great. The room was very clean and the sofa bed was double so a lot more comfortable for my son than other hotels we have stayed at. Super choice for breakfast in the morning.
The location of the hotel in the City Centre is great, but with little noise. The room was large, the bed comfortable and i really enjoyed the breakfast. Thought the staff did a great job, given how busy the hotel was, given it was a Six Nations Weekend.
Very clean, all facilities working, good location distance wise walk into Cardiff Bay and city centre. Directly opposite Cardiff Bay train station. Hosts great at communicating, really helpful and quick at responding. Would definitely stay again.
Fab location if you’re wanting city centre, and few min drive from Cardiff bay. And really good breakfast £15 for 2 parking below hotel was convenient if you can find a space as it’s small. But Still David’s car park is only few minutes away
Nice hotel near Cardiff Central station and the city centre. The room was good, with the comfortable beds and daily cleaning. The hotel stuff was friendly and helpful.
Nice property within walking distance of the city centre and Cardiff Bay. Very clean and comfortable. The owner was super helpful with any questions I had.
