This property is a 5-minute walk from the beach. A 4-story villa dating back to 1882, St Benedict - Victorian Bed and Breakfast embraces a 19th-century theme, with characterful period details and retaining its original Victorian layout. This St Leonards guest house offers free parking and Wi-Fi, and serves a country house-style full English breakfast.

With authentic furnishings of the era, guest rooms at St Benedict have a comfortable double bed and tea and coffee facilities. Each has a private external bathroom with a roll-top bath.

The full English breakfast is served in the dining room from silver dishes, in the manner of a Victorian country house. Evening meals can also be provided on request. St Leonards also has a number of recommended restaurants within a short walk of the guest house.

Guests can take tea on the lawn in summer, or enjoy the roaring fire in the drawing room in winter. A large walled garden has a pond, summerhouse and even a tranquil chapel.

The East Sussex resort of St Leonards is just over a mile from neighboring Hastings, home of Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and the famous Norman castle. Bexhill is just over 5 miles away, counting the iconic 1930s De La Warr Pavilion theater and arts venue among its attractions.

  • Hi, would accept us bringing our Frenchie? He’s no trouble.

I expect that would be alright. As long as decor and furnishings are OK. All bedrooms are upstairs. We have had dogs before and not had any problems.

  • Is there an extra bed for a 11 yr old child in the room?

We have 2 folding beds, which can be put in Mr.Parry's Rooms, The Colonel's Room and The Old Nursery. Nanny Hawkins bedroom is a bit too small for that. This would be suitable for an 11 year old. In Mr.Parry's Rooms there is plenty of room. Paul

Our upstairs sitting room has a wall mounted tv and is available for guests to use. We tend not to offer evening meals for groups of less than 6 but there are many local restaurants and take away places.

  • What exactly does ‘Private external bathroom’ mean and do any have a shower? Thank you in anticipation.

3 of our rooms have bathrooms that are not 'en suite', so they are external to the bedroom. They are private and not shared with other people. These have baths but no shower. 'Mr Parry's Rooms' has an en suite shower room and no bath.Best wishes Paul

We have carefully restored the house to its original 1880s layout and use, using entirely period wallpapers, decorative objects d'art and antique furniture, down to the smallest detail, including bathrooms. All rooms are furnished in high Victorian style, and the house has the feel of a living museum. There are also servant's quarters with pantry scullery and kitchen with a service lift and a speaking tube to the dining room.

Stephen and Paul have spent 20 years returning the house to its original configuration, decorating it and filling it with period objects. Great care has been taken over the artistic style of each room, so that guests can enjoy a unique experience of stepping back in time.

St.Leonards was established in the Regency period as a purpose built seaside resort, and was expanded in the 1880s when St.Benedict was built. It is now both a holiday resort and a centre for artists, with a growing number of galleries and vintage/antique shops. The gracious architecture of the area is an attraction, as is the proximity to the English Channel.
