Been before so took parents to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary. They hadn't been before 9 of us altogether. we had also booked an evening meal. Can honestly say the food was outstanding.Beautiful dining room with real silver ,felt like Downton Abby. So much to see and thought gone into every detail for this period. Garden also beautiful with chickens down the bottom and a small kind of church which was really interesting. As usual we were greeted warmly and made to feel at home nothing was a problem!! Highly Recommend !! and will go back again. Thank you The March Family x

Seeing what it was like living in a Victorian house. The hosts have paid such attention to detail and the house is beautifully kept. Very unusual. Not my person style but worth coming to Hastings just for the experience of staying here. Tea in the rooms was a nice touch. Breakfast was divine.

Ursula United Kingdom

The proprietors, Paul and Stephen, are wonderful hosts: solicitous, friendly and non-intrusive. They have turned their establishment into a minor miracle of an ecclesiastical museum. St. Benedict's is filled with specimens of ecclesiastical artifacts. Additionally, the location is ideal for sightseeing, approximately a delightful 10 minute walk to the center of St. Leonard's and to the train station.

Randall United States of America

Had a wonderful (but short!) stay at the most beautiful B&B. So charming!

Clare United Kingdom

Quirkiness. Tea and cake on arrival. Beautiful garden.

Gareth United Kingdom

Tea and homemade cake was a kind touch on our arrival. Lovely breakfast- large choice and well presented, with great Victorian touches, including vintage cutlery, toast warmer and surrounded by exquisite furniture and interior decor. The garden was a treat to wander around.

Mary United Kingdom

Looks like it’s the sort of place Sherlock Holmes lives haha. It’s now spoiled us. Nowhere else will match this place. When you go and stay on coast in the UK this is the sort of place you’d expect. Almost felt wrong going in with modern clothing. Maybe should have dressed up. Anyway, just go yourself. This will definitely be my go to from now on when I want to stay on the coast.

Justin United Kingdom

Great location, very quiet, view onto beautiful garden, exceptional interior, very clean, wonderful full English breakfast incl. fresh and tasty fruit salad. An unexpected and hugely charming experience provided by the hosts Paul and Stephen.

Bernhard United Kingdom

Like staying in a work of art. The care and love put into St Benedicts is pretty incredible. We were very well looked after and breakfast was deliciousm

Toby United Kingdom

The St Benedict is an exceptional B and B. The place is so amazing, filled with amazing things to look at. But it also is comfortable, clean, and the owners were so helpful and welcoming. we will be back.

A 4-story villa dating back to 1882, St Benedict - Victorian Bed and Breakfast embraces a 19th-century theme, with characterful period details and retaining its original Victorian layout. This St Leonards guest house offers free parking and Wi-Fi, and serves a country house-style full English breakfast.

With authentic furnishings of the era, guest rooms at St Benedict have a comfortable double bed and tea and coffee facilities. Each has a private external bathroom with a roll-top bath.

The full English breakfast is served in the dining room from silver dishes, in the manner of a Victorian country house. Evening meals can also be provided on request. St Leonards also has a number of recommended restaurants within a short walk of the guest house.

Guests can take tea on the lawn in summer, or enjoy the roaring fire in the drawing room in winter. A large walled garden has a pond, summerhouse and even a tranquil chapel.

The East Sussex resort of St Leonards is just over a mile from neighboring Hastings, home of Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and the famous Norman castle. Bexhill is just over 5 miles away, counting the iconic 1930s De La Warr Pavilion theater and arts venue among its attractions.

Couples in particular like the location – they rated it 9.2 for a two-person trip.

  • Can we leave our two bikes safe somewhere?

Yes indeed; in the greenhouse safe behind a locked gate. Paul

    You found this answer unhelpful

  • is there a t.v and can you order evening meal

Our upstairs sitting room has a wall mounted tv and is available for guests to use. We tend not to offer evening meals for groups of less than 6 but there are many local restaurants and take away places.

  • Is there an extra bed for a 11 yr old child in the room?

We have 2 folding beds, which can be put in Mr.Parry's Rooms, The Colonel's Room and The Old Nursery. Nanny Hawkins bedroom is a bit too small for that. This would be suitable for an 11 year old. In Mr.Parry's Rooms there is plenty of room. Paul

We have carefully restored the house to its original 1880s layout and use, using entirely period wallpapers, decorative objects d'art and antique furniture, down to the smallest detail, including bathrooms. All rooms are furnished in high Victorian style, and the house has the feel of a living museum. There are also servant's quarters with pantry scullery and kitchen with a service lift and a speaking tube to the dining room.

Stephen and Paul have spent 20 years returning the house to its original configuration, decorating it and filling it with period objects. Great care has been taken over the artistic style of each room, so that guests can enjoy a unique experience of stepping back in time.

St.Leonards was established in the Regency period as a purpose built seaside resort, and was expanded in the 1880s when St.Benedict was built. It is now both a holiday resort and a centre for artists, with a growing number of galleries and vintage/antique shops. The gracious architecture of the area is an attraction, as is the proximity to the English Channel.
