Hartnoll Hotel & Spa, hotel in East Anstey

This delightful, fully licensed boutique hotel is set in a Georgian house and conveniently located in beautiful gardens half a mile from the center of Tiverton.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hartnoll Hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly, we had a lovely room which was larger than we expected as it was called a "cosy double". The food was excellent, especially the homemade bread. Locationwise it is possible to walk about quarter of an hour along a footpath to arrive at Knightshays NT property, which is very well worth a visit.

    Nice and quiet countryside setting.

Nice and quiet countryside setting. Great for self-catering apartments, but no local shops. Bit of a drive (to Tiverton) if you wanted to eat out. Watch out for the single lane local roads, often with high hedges either side. Anstey used to have a train station and sign is still there, but it was closed in the 60's with all the other local closures. wild foxgloves are great in the summer.

    It's a pretty small village.

It's a pretty small village. Not much to do, but the surrounding area is full of places to walk, attractions and other things to do. It's a short journey to Dulverton, which a very attractive little town and of course, Exmoor is just up the road. Not great for the beaches (too far to drive), but spot on for walkers, who want a quiet base to explore North Devon and Somerset.

I liked the spacious house and facilities which were all very useful and it was a very comfortable stay. Wi-fi was good and TV fine. There was detailed instructions provided re how to access the property. A little off the beaten track but very good access for Exmoor
