Greeted warmly by Shirley. She explained that nothing was too much trouble. Just ask. Not that we needed to ask for anything. Absolutely beautiful hotel/ guest house. Great location. Either a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk to Bowness town centre. Shirley even upgraded us free of charge to a large room with a 4 poster bed. En-suite . The bed was soooo comfy. The room was exceptionally clean. Plenty of tea sugar toiletries towels etc. I would definitely stay here and would recommend it to everyone. The breakfast choice was amazing. This place gets a huge thumbs up and 5 stars from me. Thank you Shirley and staff.

This award-winning family-run B&B is set opposite Lake Windermere in a 19th-century property which was the former gatehouse to Storrs Hall. The restored Storrs Gate House offers sumptuous bedrooms with free Wi-Fi, hearty breakfasts, and free, ample parking.

A full English breakfast is served in the morning. Breakfast items include free-range eggs from a local farm, handmade Cumberland sausage, homemade jam, marmalade, yoghurt and muffins.

The bedrooms are decorated with rich fabrics and colours. All rooms have a minibar and a hairdryer, and bathrooms feature power showers and The White Company toiletries.

Storrs Gate House is a delightful 19-century detached house close to Lake Windermere. It was originally the northern gatehouse to Storrs Hall, being the manor house. Vince and Shirley have run Storrs Gate House since 2000, and have steadily upgraded and sympathetically extended the business to achieve 5 star grading and the accolade of Bed & Breakfast of the Year in the Cumbria Tourism Awards.
