We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place

Interesting city. Walks available, along canal, and nature reserve. Cathedral, old buildings, museums ETC to visit. Docks area great for drinking & dining. Small enough to reach everything on foot.

The historic dock area has been done up and is a pleasant area for pedestrians with plenty of seating. The Waterways museum is excellent, good for kids and adults. There are many
different places to eat to suit different tastes and budgets. If visiting the cathedral it’s well worth paying for the guided tour. There is also evidence of the other side of city life - homeless people on the streets, closed shops, shouting, noise at night, but it’s no bad thing to be aware of the reality.

Gloucester is very much like many other cities in the UK, closed shops and very quiet. The advantage was the cathedral. It is an ideal base for travelling, we visited the Cotswolds and other local places.
First of all, a big thank you to Dee, the property manager, who was really helpful, immediately responsive and very accommodating to our requests - she made an enormous difference to our stay.
The apartment was better than we had imagined - spacious, very clean, well-equipped and ideally located for Gloucester city centre, just a few minutes walk from the Quays and Docks and the local park.
If we go back to Gloucester, this will definitely be our first choice of places to stay and, hopefully, Dee will still be managing it!.
Original booking was for The Central Hotel but got moved to The County Hotel about 3 weeks before our trip due to the other hotel being taken over for a corporate booking. We were promised rooms of a better standard and size.Wasn't our 1st choice and wouldn't choose to stay again. The location for shops, bars and the quays is good from the County Hotel. Microwave and fridge in room was handy.
The Ibis Hotel contacted me about 2 weeks before I was due to travel to say the Hotel was closed till later in the year due to a project being carried out and they had rebooked me into the Holiday Inn just up the road from them all terms and conditions the same. So this Rating In NOT for the Ibis and any questions I could/have answered relate to the Holiday Inn Cheltenham/Gloucester.
because of my mobility issues I was placed on the ground floor with an accessible bathroom
everything was excellent including the breakfast and I always find the holiday inn express excellent value for money
I would hope to return to this hotel
special mention to Callum who helped me by getting my bags from my car in the evening and then taking them back to my car in the morning
Good coffee provided and breakfast (extra cost) was very good with nice range of menu. The room was quite spacious with partial river view but nearby main road caused some noise in early hours of morning. Pleasant gardens, countryside around hotel.
The inn/hotel was so run down and derelict that we drove away after looking at the property. The inner courtyard was filled with drinks and seeming druggies. The property is unseemly and grossly guilty of deceptive advertising, as is Booking.com !
Our hosts, Jean and Keith, were very welcoming so our stay felt like home from home. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of home-made or home-grown produce. Great location for Gloucester centre. Comfortable room.
Very straightforward to get to the hotel. Comfortable, quiet, clean room. Staff were lovely, friendly but professional. Park and Ride was really handy for getting in to Gloucester without the hassle of driving in.
This hotel has a beautiful canal walk and river views which felt very peaceful. We had a very good-sized room with all the amenities we could need. It's also a great accessible location for Gloucester.
Beds, linen and towels all new, and a good smart tv that connected to on-demand services (when the wifi worked). Hotel felt secure and room (at far end of building) was quiet.
The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. They have better facilities than most hotels with fridge and microwave so that you can snack away in your own room easily.
Excellent breakfast selection. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel - Reception, dining, bar and grounds.
Good location to the Cotswold attractions.
