The complimentary breakfast of cereals, rice pots, fresh fruit, yogurts and milk is amazing. Also all night parking next to the hotel for £2.70 is fantastic.

Fabulous room. Characterful and everything I needed including nespresso machine, big comfy bed, fantastic shower. I was leaving at 6.15 before breakfast available so the man who checked me in gave me some cheese etc from kitchen for the journey next morning. Really lovely place to stay.

The spa is nice and swimming is free for guests. We had food in the bar area which had a limited menu but was tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

This is central Lancaster, yet it's in a quiet spot beneath the castle, and near the bus station. There's a bar/restaurant below with great food (including smashing breakfasts and enormous pies). Everything we were looking for - we'll be back!
Parking nearby in town car parks - get the RingGo app on your phone before you leave home to make it easy.

I lived in Lancaster for almost 20 years and I love it.
I lived in Lancaster for almost 20 years and I love it. I still live locally and I went to the hotel as a reward/treat to myself after a significant loss in my life. Lancaster is quite a compact city which is crammed with history and culture and independent shops.

Had a guided tour of the castle which was very interesting.
Had a guided tour of the castle which was very interesting. We also visited the Abbey adjacent. We also like the promenade walk along the River Lune which is easily accessible from the hotel. Lancaster is built on hills so for the mobility limited it can be difficult to walk around. We drove directly to the castle car park for blue badge holders. We ate all meals in our hotel.

We had to use the council car park because the hotel didn’t have their own. It cost us £12 each night and we got a parking ticket the first morning because the attendant misread our ticket. This means we now have to deal with that, very annoying. Local residents said beware the council !!!

Breakfast was magnificent!
Breakfast was magnificent!
Lunch and dinner, which we paid for additionally, was brilliant value.
We were staying at the University to attend our grandson's graduation ceremony. It was just perfect and so very convenient.
The building was very historic and interesting with a good location in the centre of Lancaster which isn't very big to walk around. The room was a decent size. The breakfast was paid for separately but had a very wide choice.
We also ate in the restaurant in the evening and all the food was good. Table service for drinks was also an added benefit.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Would stay here again.
A lovely hotel in a great location in Lancaster (only a few minutes walk from the station and close to town). The inn has great character and is cosy but also luxurious - very comfortable beds! The pub part of the inn is great as well - good drink and food and a buzzing atmosphere.
The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
I was stranded in UK due to boat cancellations and I could not have found a more accommodating hotel. The staff were amazing and the food and drink were the same.
I have never been to Lancaster shops and my experience with this hotel has given me reason to revisit.
Thank you soooo much to all the staff you were amazing. I will see you again soon. X

Have returned to this hotel several times and most recently in July '23. Wagon and Horses is comfortable, smart and welcoming and is on the bank of the River Lune a few minutes walk from the centre of Lancaster. Our room was clean and well-equipped. The lounge-cum-dining room is large but cosy and breakfasts are very good. Will continue to use in future.
If you are stopping on your way, you may find the location quite convenient, as it's literally just off M6 (not if you have come to explore Lancaster itself though, as it takes almost an hour on foot to get to the centre and the walk is not even through a particularly nice area). The hotel has a gym and a swimming-pool, which could be a bonus for some.
Perfect. My wife and I stayed for one night having delivered our Son to University. The room was stunning, the staff very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was freshly prepared and very filling. We dined in the restaurant in the evening and again we couldn't fault the food, wine or service. This will be our hotel of choice when visiting Lancaster.
Given that we only spent one night so our experience was limited; the front desk person - Abby- checking us in and out was wonderful. She was ever so pleasant, every question and request was calmly and efficiently handled. The Hotel was clean and very pleasant but Abby was what made it feel welcoming and relaxing.
The staff were lovely and most professional and polite. The hotel is in a lovely rural location but is well used and convenient for Lancaster Very nice comfortable decor.. Really dog friendly place.
Food excellent in both taste and value for money. Room so comfortable and very well presented. Absolutely spotless.
Rooms are good size, new, clean and have a fun decor. Nice little touches with chocolate, Nespresso, etc. There are two nice walks from the hotel, one to the Castle and one along the river. Town is walkable. Designated parking was nice. Restaurant had some of the best food we had in England.
The location is perfect for people having to get to the Lancaster University everyday. The main bus station is only 5 minutes away from the location. The city centre is also within the walking distance, not to mention that a huge Sainsbury's is just in front of the place.
Comfortable stay to break up a long drive. Not really walking distance from Lancaster centre but great for a stop off the motorway. Price was very reasonable for two rooms, which were themselves more than enough for our party of three adults and two small children.
Nice complimentary breakfast cereals, fruit etc Friendly staff Great location. Bar very quite, but a nice Wetherspoons 5 mins walk away went back to hotel 10am but was closed to having a drink. Loved Lancaster
The staff are so lovely and helpful. Feels like a B&B with the personal 1-1 experience but get the space and facilities of a hotel
Rooms are modern and fresh. Really comfy bed!!
I liked the breakfast at Wetherspoon's next door. Good food and great prices. I liked the location - convenient to everything.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
Its a Good English style hotel. In quite surroundings. Perfect place to stay if you r going to meet your kid studying in Lancaster University. Easy free parking
