We loved the laid back atmosphere. The high street was busy with a diverse variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. The Victorian town is beautiful. Lots of lovely architecture, walks and a beautiful park. Also a nice beach which was a bonus. We would recommend you investigate all the little side streets for hidden gems. Also very dog friendly.

Minehead is a good beach resort and a central starting point for exploring Somerset and particularly Exmoor as a path starts a short walk from the Hotel.
The West Somerset steam railway is the longest standard gauge heritage line at 21 miles taking a full hour each way through pretty well kept stations and is only a short walk along the front the hotel.

Minehead is a thriving seaside town with many individual and chain shops, eateries, coffee bars, a park and places of worship and of course the beach! It is an easy town to walk around, especially if you have a walking problem. The traffic during our stay was light fr the time of year and parking in the town was easy. It is also a very friendly place to visit.

We liked the older part of the town towards the harbour and being there out of peak season it was quiet, during the peak summer months clearly would be busier and nosier. The town is easy to get around and has plenty of parking, the old railway centre is also very good and worth a visit. We used one of the fish and chip shops in Bampton Street which was excellent and had a meal in the Hairy Dog which was good pub food. Minehead is also a good place as a base for visiting other parts of the Somerset coast and close the Exmoor. Dunster Castle is also nearby and well worth a visit.

Great family town with beach and Steam Railway.
Great family town with beach and Steam Railway. Plenty of shopping choices. Friendly, helpful shop owners. The look of the main street is good. The bus facilities were brilliant ! Plenty of parking if you have a car. The beach is long and mostly sandy. I'd recommend the fish and chip bar along the front and Oggy's pasty shop on the Avenue.

The Waverley is a short walk from the Minehead Railway Station (now home to West Somerset Railway) and bus stop. As travellers using public transport the location is excellent and it is only a short walk to shops, cafes and hotels and the harbour. The breakfast selection is excellent and well presented. Our hosts and their staff were friendly and engaging, always smiling and willing to help in any way. Our room was large enough that we were not cramped, it was clean and comfortable with a matching large ensuite.
Staff: brilliant, very helpful
Location: literally a 2 min walk from the sea front and central to amenities.
Room: it was a fab sized room for us (me, a 13 year old and a 3 year old). The room was absolutely spotless and not cramped like some hotels. I couldn't fault it. If you are visiting Minehead, and need a hotel, put this at the top of your list. The breakfasts were amazing (ask for toast and you literally get the biggest slices of bread I have ever seen). Great for kids too.
It's a beautiful old hotel. We had a lovely, big room with sea views. The bed was large and comfortable. Parking was easy. The breakfast was excellent and evening meals from the bar were tasty and good value too. The hotel staff were friendly and pleasant. The location of the hotel is excellent - it is possible to walk through the lovely garden and arrive at the Blenheim Gardens or if you turn in the other direction, you are very close to the seafront.
This is a lovely clean, and spacious apartment that is a credit to the owners. We had the ground floor flat which is a step free 2 minute walk to the seafront. There is access to a pretty communal outdoor courtyard. The location is in a quiet street only a few hundred yards to Minehead town centre where there are many bars, restaurants, and takeaways. On the seafront is the start/finish marker for the south west coastal path, 600 miles or so to Poole.
The Duke of Wellington Minehead is an excellent hotel and super value. The staff were friendly and highly competent. Parking on street is available nearby and there are also official sites close by. The hotel in style is broadly of a time gone by with huge rooms. That does NOT detract from its services. Rooms are clean, secure and the breakfast is very good as anyone who uses a Wetherspoons knows.
Lovely stay in this hotel which is in a great location on a quiet street within easy walking distance of the town centre. A nice welcome from the owners and some thoughtful touches in the rooms - I really liked the option to have fresh milk for our cups of tea in the room for example! Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice.
We were greeted in the car park on arrival by Mark (owner). He helped with luggage, showed us to our room and checked that had everything we needed.
The location is superb, only a few yards from the seafront.
Although the menu is not extensive the food was tasty, nicely cooked and presented. Pricing is realistic.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
The building was fascinating and our room wonderfully spacious. Breakfast was good, and we ate there two evenings and really enjoyed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the pair of Great Dane 'guard' dogs were a real joy. We were there to visit the West Somerset Railway and it was a real bonus having a station a short drive from the hotel.
Excellent location. The hotel is clean and bright and the staff are excellent. For the money it is great value. There is free parking but spaces are limited. our room was light and spacious with a lovely sea view. The hotel is dog friendly and the beach is open to dogs until May 1st. The centre of town is a short walk away.
The staff made the stay for us, they were so friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure we had a relaxing stay with our new puppy, she was fussed so much and made welcome. The food was good and room was a lovely size, clean and tidy. The hotel for us was ideally situated just far enough away from the seafront.
I reckon I owe a really great feedback about my stay at Alcombe House hotel. In fact, It is located in between of Minehead attractions and Dunster village/castle, so just choose your side and walk. I did lots if walks staying there and it was very comfortable to come back and relax. Thanks a lot!
A good sized property, with well proportioned rooms. Reall nicely maintained and clean. Well-equipped kitchen and nicely set out bedrooms. Great ot have a good sized dining table, as well as a separate comfy living room. Nicely convenient location for the centre of town and the beach.
Breakfast was amazing - delicious food, with a large number of choices where you can pick exactly what "Full English" means for you. Lovely dining room, and an amazing location opposite Blenheim Gardens. Walkable to many restaurants, pubs and the seafront.
Clean, friendly and helpful owners. Perfectly located for where I needed to be.... If you have an issue regarding a breakfast there are plenty of wonderful places a short walk or car ride in Minehead centre..
The room was extremely clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Location was ideal for the seafront and town centre. Owner very friendly and checked in on us to see if everything was ok.
