We stayed at the Bear for my birthday ,And Met up with some old friends for a meal on the 27th August ,The food was lovely . The Two breakfast we had during our Two Night stay were very good ,Would defo be back again looking forwards to seeing it after the refurbishment,As the landlady only took over in May and they have great plans ,Lots of luck !!!x

The rooms are spacious with beautiful views over the countryside and a small patio seating area. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Clean and spacious shower room with nice large towels. Pauline the manager and all her staff made us all feel really welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Even providing an iron for my son’s creased suit. Great menu in the evening and good bar selection. Separate breakfast menu but you could ask for anything not on the menu at breakfast and no problem. Breakfast served until 11am. Good if you want a lie in. Quiz night on a Tuesday evening was excellent and entertaining.

Clean, warm and comfortable. I have stayed here a few times and will do again. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great food. Bed was lovely and comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. Definitely recommend.

We stayed here a few years ago and it was good but needed a make over. It has now had a make over of the pub and hotel rooms which are very nicely done now excellent accommodation The restaurant food was very good and the breakfast in the morning were excellent. I would certainly stay again without any hesitation.

Located in the rural village of Burwash, The Bear Inn is just a 10-minute drive from the ancient woodland of Dallington Forest. Homemade food using local ingredients is served in the hotel’s restaurant.

A full English breakfast can be enjoyed in the hotel’s dining room. Wooden beams feature throughout the bar, in which guests can choose from a wide selection of drinks. Free Wi-Fi is also available in public areas.

A flat-screen TV and new modern beds are included in each traditionally decorated and spacious room.

Rudyard Kipling’s former home at Bateman’s, now a National Trust property, is less than 20-minutes’ walk from the hotel. Free private parking is available and Bodiam Castle is just 20 minutes’ drive away. Eastbourne city center and its beaches are a 40-minute journey away by car.

  • Hi! I'd just like to ask what the check in/out times are for the room? We are traveling up for a wedding so ideally would need to be able to be in the to before 12pm to drop our things off. Thanks in advance, Tash

  • I need 2 rooms on Sunday 25th October for 1 night. One room with a double bed and 1 with 2 single beds (2 people). Do you have these available please? I can book on line but don't want to end up with 2 double bedded rooms.
