The Black Pig is a quintessentially English Country pub. Located in the tiny Kentish village of Staple. It provides a friendly, oak-beamed, open fired (child-friendly & dog-friendly) environment where all are welcome. You'll find reasonably priced, no nonsense 'pub grub', a great selection of quality real ales and wines and friendly, welcoming staff. There's also a large family garden (with Bat & Trap in the Summer); as well as a large function room. We set out to provide our customers with a great value for money , enjoyable country pub experience. We've no intention of becoming a gastro-pub - or pricing ourselves out of the market with five course masterpieces! There's no noisy jukebox or intrusive background music - just all of the things you'd wish to find in a great country pub.
The Black Pig Team: Ali & Jane: The first people you'll most likely meet at the bar are Ali and Jane...... (and perhaps Harvey!) Jane has a background in Hotels, Pubs and Catering - and has brought this wealth of experience and know-how to The Black Pig. Ali is a local businesswoman / entrepreneur; and ensures that the business runs like clockwork! Team Piglet: The original intention was to list the the bar staff, waitresses, kitchen staff and all of the varius individuals who help to mke the Black Pig the success it now is. - - - But there are simply too many! The front of house and behind the scenes staff have all been carefully chosen to ensure that at every visit you will receive a highly efficient, courteous and friendly service. And Harvey? - You'll have to come along to find out!
Situated close to the beautiful city of Canterbury you can explore the area. Head out to discover the rich history, beautiful scenery and exciting attractions that Kent has to offer. The Black Pig is located in a peaceful, rural location only 10 minutes' drive from Canterbury, 20 minutes from Dover, Folkestone and the channel crossings. Centrally located for visiting any part of Kent it is an ideal location for those wishing to visit South East England and its many attractions. The historic cathedral city of Canterbury is within easy driving distance of the accommodation. Visit the Cathedral, the many museums or see the Canterbury Tales. Whitstable is close by and has many traditional charms, strong arts culture and rich maritime history.
