Breakfast was fine and quite substantial. Dinner had a good selection and was well cooked.
The location was a bit hard to find and a lot further from Penrith that we were expecting

First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location.
The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Nice buildings with lots of character.
Nice buildings with lots of character. No huge shops but loads of smaller varied places. The town was alive and generally well kept.
Good range of eating places and some really good pubs.
The town is not huge, so once there everything is easy to walk. It's not particularly hilly, though heading for the castle is uphill.

Lovely Old Market Town with some lovely old buildings...
Lovely Old Market Town with some lovely old buildings including the penrith library and the good vibrant night if you want one with also some lovely little quiet pubs and a fantastic shop called the toffee Shop makes the best fudge and toffee I've ever tasted
Perfect location for visiting Ullswater or Penrith, with the lake being about 15 minutes away. Penrith itself is literally on your doorstep and there are some nice little bakery's and coffee shops to try out.
I think people mentioning stains on the carpet etc are probably just finding something to complain about because it really doesn't make any difference to your stay at all, the shower was great and the heating barely even needed to be on to make everything warm.
Welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Comfortable spacious room with seats as well as beds (unlike YHA). Decent sprung mattresses without rubbery covers (again unlike YHA). Clean well-designed kitchen. Not far from town centre yet in a quiet area. Dry room and bike storage (even though I didn't need these on this occasion). Nice fluffy towels available to hire very cheaply if you don't have your own.
Really great B&B. Friendly welcome, lovely room, comfy bed, and terrific full English Breakfast.. free WiFi (that worked well) lots of sockets, lovely shower and well located in the town centre for pubs and restaurants.
This was a last minute panic booking, as my usual hotel was fully booked and I think I got a lower price than usual But would love to stay again next time I'm in Penrith even at full price.
This cosy and clean room in a beautiful house was ideal for us to use as a base to visit the Lake District and the surrounding areas. Penrith town centre is within walking distance from the property and there was space to park our car. Christel was an amazing host putting on wonderful breakfasts for us and we felt that we wished we could have stayed longer. We would definitely stay here again.
It's a tastefully decorated and furnished place, full of character and in a pretty village. A quiet, leafy spot with pretty gardens front and back. Delightful patio out the back if the weather was kind, super conservatory at the front for wet days and cooler evenings. Very well equipped - there was no occasion where we thought "is there a ....?" and there wasn't one! We'd love to stay again.
Liked everything about a local pub, we live in Cumbria and we were on a cycling tour. Great welcome when we arrived, we were able to check in straight away. Room was better than we expected, for pub standards it was above & beyond some hotels we’ve stayed in! It was great to read the history of pub given its run by local community members (400 - 500 members) Well Done. We will be back.
Good room very quiet given a busy Friday night in the hotel bar and dining. Staff very polite and had a great Cumberland breakfast. Centrally located in Penrith . I was visiting Ullswater on the following day which is less than 5 miles journey which was good.Safe parking to rear of hotel although took some finding around one way town centre system. Excellent stay.
Very happy with our brief stay at Rebel's Hide. Ideally located (for our visit) just outside Penrith in a quiet residential area. It surpassed our expectations and we were very happy with our stay. Good communication and instruction from the hosts. The best recommendation I can give is that we would be happy to stay there again. Many thanks 🙂
Lovely boutique hotel with very friendly staff, comfortable rooms & delicious good value meals in restaurant. Popular with the locals is testament to their custom. Easy access to Ullswater & surrounding lakes district. Close to cosy town of Penrith.
Everything was 100% could not fault anything
Really was good value for money
Excellent breakfast quality of food was lovely and cooked to perfection
perfect location for our needs
will definatly recommend it and looking forward to staying again
The Station Hotel at Penrith is a very traditional pub and hotel and is an ideal place to stay for location for exploring the Lake District and if you're reliant on public transport, it's just across the street from the train station
Location was great for access to Lake District. The Hotel interior is well designed with a hunting lodge theme. Spa facilities are great….if you can get a booking! Try he FYR restaurant is really good snd decent value.
The breakfast was excellent. The service was excellent. The hosts couldn't have been better. Have been at lots of bed and breakfasts and this was one of the best.
Great hotel, rooms, bar & restaurant are great.
Pool & spa added bonus.
Location is good, 10 minute walk into Penrith and 10 minute drive to Pooley bridge.
