Some exquisite buildings, many beautifully preserved and one (the Guildhall) in the care of National Trust. A good selection of independent shops and places to eat ranged from good pub grub to fine dining.
Good also as a centre for visiting other Suffolk landmarks - don't miss Kersey or Finchingfield for unspoiled picturesque villages.

Lovely, ancient town with a good range of shops and amenities etc. The hotel provided a town map, which was really useful and informative. I imagine that it is really busy in summer months, but in March, it was not, so easy to park (free!) and walk around etc......highly recommended location in Suffolk and with a Harry Potter house, used in one of the films!

Lovely olde worlde village which is easy to get around. Shame it was muddy for the 2 village walks each 2 1/2 miles and 5 mile routes.
Plenty of pub/restaurants, free parking and local shops.

Lavenham as a town was beautiful, we loved the sense of History, but the house was very cold. We walked through the town in the evening, the Christmas lights and buildings were magical. We had tea in a small cafe opposite the Guildhall which was perfect. We had our evening meal at the Swan. We were the first guests and were privileged to be treated as though we were royalty. It was a magical experience in a truly wonderful setting. We went into an antique shop that was full of interesting items.
If I were to return, I would stay in a hotel like The Swan where my experience could be more predictable, rather than a self-catering holiday home.

Lavenham is an exceptionally attractive village with numerous splendid Tudor and later buildings. It is full of high quality shops, including antique shops. The Guildhall, Little Hall and church are all 'Must Sees' to anyone even remotely interested in Historic buildings. It is a delightful place to wander around and there are also pleasant woodland walks nearby. Long Melford and Bury St. Edmunds should also be visited if time permits.
Both Restaurants in The Swan are quite exceptional, 'The Gallery' being an especially lovely room in which to dine. Booking ahead is likely to be advisable at weekends.
Here everything is just perfect. Wonderful and nice historic town. Location is very peacfeul, minutes away from oldtown center and with free parking in front of apartment. The host is very kind and flexible. The apartment is very lovely, with full equipment and even in the details everything is perfect. It has nice sitting with a garden view. Everything here is 100% . Even ice cubes in refrigerator. Feeling like at home. Definetely we’ll be back here when arrive to Lavenham
Private, quaint town. Relaxing. Great History. The Spa was nice and relaxing. Bar and lounge was nice and quaint with great history. Bar tender was great, and very knowledgeable. The morning breakfast was wonderful and very yummy. By us stop across the street. Nice town with good nearby restaurants.
Admittedly this hotel is a little faded, but represented excellent value for money. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was large with excellent water pressure. Breakfast was very good. Our thanks to Dee who not only welcomed us but sorted out an early breakfast.
Good location - on a street of modern houses but the Market Place is literally a stone’s through away. Very clean and just what we needed for an overnight stop for 5 people. On site parking which is very good to have in popular Lavenham. Nice and warm for our arrival.
Very nice historic hotel with a nice pub/restaurant. Old but clean. Friendly service. Convenient free parking in the common arear in front of the hotel. Very good breakfast made to order and a good dinner menu of nicely prepared food dishes.
Location brilliant. Surrounding architecture unrivalled, England at it’s best! Size and comfort of room excellent, breakfast really good, not the usual, but a fusion of English and continental.staff helpful .
The hotel location was idyllic. The room was private and beautiful. The pool was an absolute must. We were lucky enough to have it to ourselves. It was exactly the quick get away we needed.
A lovely Tudor inn in maybe one of the most scenic towns in Southern England. The USAAF bar is equally fascinating . The breakfast was awesome, the staff very friendly.
The staff were very smartly dressed and helpful. The parking was good. The room was very clean , the hotel had lots of history on the walls to read about.
