Newcastle is great for a day out or longer stay.
Newcastle is great for a day out or longer stay. It looks beautiful, even in the rain. It has the natural amenities of the beach and the mountains and in summer there's the big wheel, carousel and boating lake. There's plenty of indoor amusement arcades too. And there are so many places to get a bite to eat - from a bakery hot snack to dinner in the Slieve Donard, there's something to suit everyone. Anyone new to Newcastle should check out Graham's icecream, it's really good.

The shops, including a wide range of clothes, eating venues, take - always or restaurants. Good entertainment , for adults & children. Amusements outside for the young, eg.swimming pool, paddle swans on the river for all ages. There are plenty of parks for walks, exploring nature life either walking or cycling. A short drive from Newcastle will take a route through the mountains, which are beautiful to look at, as well as a walk through Tullymore Forest Park, suitable for picnics

Lots of places to eat. Fun amusements and swan paddle rides. A swimming pool and Castlewellan and Tollymore forest parks are close by. You can play mini golf at Adventure Golf.
Negatives would be there is a lot of dog poo on the paths and the public toilet in Donard carpark is disgusting. There is one in the middle of the town which is just about passable but you have to use it as the amusements etc all say there's are closed

Perfect base for those exploring or walking in the Mournes which was the purpose of our visit. Lovely to walk the promenade the next day and stretch the legs and plenty of shops/bars/restaurants on the doorstep for visitors.

Loved the apartment it had everything we needed with great Mountain View. The location could not have been more central everything was within walking distance. The apartment was clean and well kept and beds were really comfy. The only downside for some would be the stairs as the beds and bathrooms are downstairs but this was no problem for us. Not sure it was what we had booked with booking.com as we were expecting to be in a different area of Newcastle going by their website but all turned out well.
Third time staying there and cant fault it, We booked late so didn't get the Seaview rooms, Only fault I can say is there is now some
Sewage treatment thing beside the hotel , which to my knowledge wasn’t there before, smell was a bit bad at times but not in our rooms , The breakfast is usually a big factor we pick the hotel ,but the second day the hotel were short staffed Got our order wrong numerous times leaving us to rush to check out 11 , food was brilliant as usual and will always rate this hotel as home when in newcastle.
We loved the location- uniquely placed to enjoy the beauty of the mountains but handy to supermarket, bus stop and a short dander into the gorgeous town of Newcastle. We honestly have never met friendlier people than those we encountered here and in County Down in general. We loved ending the day with the hot tub then getting cosy in the Pjs in our beautiful cabin. Super friendly and super organised hosts . Thank you Catherine. We would love to return soon
The best thing about the apartment was its location - it's right on South Promenade of Newcastle (County Down, Northern Ireland) with a breathtaking view of the Irish Sea. The apartment was very comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Paul, at the reception, was extremely warm and helpful. The owner / host Claire was easy to communicate with and we would like to thank her for the hospitality and arrangements.
The Apartments where in a perfect location. The apartments are spacious, very clean. They facilities are modern & well maintained. The individual bathrooms are perfect so you have that all important privacy while being away from home.
You are right in the heart of everything & you will definitely fall in love with Newcastle Co Down
The hotel was beautiful and staff are very nice, our room was beautiful but the bathroom seemed to have a really bad smell. It seemed to be a damp or sewage smell. This made me uncomfortable in the room as the smell crept in. Everything else was perfect.
THIS IS A LOVELY PLACE WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR YOUR STAY. THE HOUSE WAS CLEAN AND VERY CLOSE TO SHOPS, BARS, BEACH AND THIS IS SOMEWHERE I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. THE VIEWS FROM THE HOUSE IS FANTASTIC. THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY STAY
location just outside Newcastle co.Down is Perfect for touring the Mountaons of Mourne and around County Down in the south-east of Northern Ireland. The Briers Country House also has a lovely garden in which to sit back and relax.
Lovely house, wonderful room, fab en suite, nice breakfast room with views over the garden, friendly host, views of Slieve Donard from the front of the house, plenty of parking, not far from Newcastle in a cab to go for dinner
Exceptionally clean and high standard of furnishings and fittings
Well equipped
Excellent location in terms of access to Newcastle and the surrounding area.
Better value than Slieve Donard hotel!
I expected a basic b and b but it's a very modern mini hotel. Family run and very clean with everything you need. Located right beside Tollymore Forest but only 5 mins from Newcastle centre.
Lovely place to stay, close to Newcastle centre, beautiful views of the mourne mountains from our room. Kitchen facilities were spotless. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Clean, modern and homely apartment with all the small touches- quick heating, comfy bed, hot showers!
Thank you for a wonderful weekend stay in Newcastle :-)
