Location was wonderful. Can't beat it if you're looking to get away. The village is quaint, too.
United KingdomGreat location in the countryside. Friendly host providing a good breakfast. Walking distance to the local pub for meals. Good place to stay on the way north to Hadrian's Wall, would have been good to stay for another night or 2.
AustraliaOur 3 day stay was excellent, great host, accommodation and superb breakfast
United KingdomThe location is perfect. In the country yet close to a village with a pub and restaurant and short driving distances to other country pubs. Jenna and Martin were the best hosts. They couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfasts were superb…… the best breakfast we’ve had in a bod and breakfast ever.
BermudaWe enjoyed relaxing with a movie by the fire in the evenings. It was lovely and quiet and just a 15 minute drive to Consett etc if we wanted to pop to town. The biscuits and eggs we received upon arrival made us feel welcome. There were nice dog walking routes, including Derwent water just a 3 mins drive away.
United KingdomVery nice old property full of character and warm with log burner on
United KingdomWe loved the location ,the hospitality was welcoming ,helpful and very friendly, and a good hearty breakfast ,sad we only were there for 2 nights.
United KingdomFantastic location lovely cottage great host. Will stay again
United KingdomOur apartment (Robin) was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed for our five night stay. The Burnside's owner Jenna is very friendly and her breakfasts are outstanding. There were eight items available in the cooked breakfast, all locally sourced, as well as a large choice of cereals and fruit. The Burnside is in the perfect location - rural and peaceful, yet only a few minutes' walk from two pubs and a shop. There is plenty of onsite parking at The Burnside and some extensive grounds to explore. We particularly enjoyed sitting at the picnic bench in the top field by the lake admiring the spectacular views.
United KingdomClean, comfortable and quite location very well located. Breakfast was excellent and Jenna a great host.

Nestled beside the Burnhope Burn, in the picturesque village of Edmundbyers in the North Pennines; The Burnside offers a relaxing and comfortable stay in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. From April 12th we will be open for self catering stay only, then from May 17th bed and breakfast will resume as normal with a full English breakfast served in our beautiful sunroom. (Self catering stays are still available after May 17th, please phone Jenna for more information). Golf, fishing and sailing nearby, or stunning walks and cycling to suit any level; not to mention Hadrians Wall, Beamish Museum, The Derwent Reservoir, Hexham, Corbridge, Blanchland, Stanhope and Barnard Castle within easy reach, you will never be short of some thing to do. Our unique and comfortable cottages have central heating, bed linen and towels all included in the price and are equipped with full kitchen and bathroom facilities, there is also plenty of seating outdoors in the beautiful garden for either dining or just taking time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Well behaved pets are welcome within reason, please let us know if you will be bringing one when booking. The village pub is only a five minute walk away, with excellent beers and food, and there are an abundance of top class restaurants locally. Outside you can take a stroll around the eight acres of grounds and sit by the lake watching the dragonflies, moorhens and duck, or by the burn and maybe catch sight of a kingfisher or heron. Jenna and Martin look forward to seeing you at The Burnside, and whatever you chose to do while staying, you will be sure to leave totally refreshed, relaxed and already planning your next stay!
I love horse riding and cooking,(luckily)! I also work on the family dairy farm, so I'm kept pretty busy.
The Burnside is located in the North Pennines, a five minute walk from the picturesque village of Edmundbyers. We are surrounded by fells, but the local market town of Hexham is only a 15 minute drive away, as well as the beautiful villages of Stanhope, Blanchland and Corbridge. In our eight acres of grounds, there is a small lake with seating area, and the beautiful Burnhope Burn meanders it's way down from the fells through our garden. Truly a haven of peace and tranquility.
