Stonefield Rooms, hotel in High Blantyre

Stonefield Rooms offers accommodations in High Blantyre, 7.7 miles from Hampden Park and 9.4 miles from Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

We wanted to spend the night in the town where our family came from, so these rooms above a tavern were perfect for us. The owner was accomodating and considerate, answering all my questions and fitting an extra bed in the room for my son, and even asking how our family search was going. The room and bathroom weren't fancy, but appeared recently renovated--newly painted walls, nice modern bathroom fixtures, a pretty painting on the wall, and a cozy soft blanket for the bed.

The Raven’s Cliff Lodge by Marston's Inns, hotel in High Blantyre

Located in Motherwell, 13 miles from Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, The Raven’s Cliff Lodge by Marston's Inns has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Convenient location for anyone coming by car or taxi. Rooms are well sized and decently equipped for this price level. Beds are comfortable, and it's nice to have the option for a bath. Area is quiet (although we stayed midweek) so ideal to get a decent night's sleep. Restaurant/bar/reception across the carpark is comfortable and the food (both dinner and breakfast) is delicious. The breakfast included in the price is a continental one, so if you want a cooked breakfast it's better to pay for it on the day. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

This is a beautiful castle with amazing staff, extremely comfortable room, nothing was too much trouble. the tasting menu portions we thought were too large, we often have tasting menus and this was the largest portions, the food was very good though. Breakfast was superb. would love to go back when in that area

Blantyre is the birth place of David Livingstone, the memorial in Low Blantyre is an excellent place to spend time. There are quite a number of sites in the area which are associated with the history of the area - some research would need to done. There is a leisure centre and a public park. Some small shops but mainly Asda. We ate at a restaurant across from the B&B, this was well patronised and the food was good - gluten free available - senior citizen also available. Good bus service into Glasgow and onward. Also to Hamilton and further afield in the other direction.
