FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

First-class Shopping, Culture and Sports

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centers. Well-known for its M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it's also a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city center hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping center, and behind that is Digbeth Bus Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Center) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just across the street is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modeled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top soccer clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

    Went for a long weekend.

Went for a long weekend. I’ve travelled to the uk many times. My first time in Birmingham and it was by far my favourite trip over. There is so much to do there that we didn’t even get to do it all in one weekend, we were so busy the whole time we were there doing activities and the bars and restaurants are another level compared to any of the other cities I’ve been to in the uk.

I've never spent time in Birmingham before, and found everyone friendly and helpful. Id travelled from my home in Ireland to see bands on Friday night and Saturday night. I stayed in Kings Heath, a fabulous place for music lovers, with three great venues very close to each other... "Fletcher's", "The Hare & Hounds"" and "The Station" - I was at them all. As a vegetarian, I had no problem getting food, and breakfast in "Gregg's" was excellent and very reasonable. (No Gregg's in Ireland, more's the pity!). I had an excellent takeaway spicy vegetarian pizza which I ate in my apartment in York Road - next door to the pizza place and opposite the venue we'd been to. I'd bought drinks in all venues I attended - "The Hare and Hounds", "Fletcher's" and "The Station" - and I was surprised that their prices were so reasonable. The management of "The Station"were only too happy to let people bring food into the pub (they don't do food) and directed me to a nearby shop/off licence a few doors away, where I bought delicious samosas and vegetarian pasties. I found King's Heath to be easily accessible by bus from Birmingham airport..... I'll be back!

I have visited Birmingham so often, I am baffled why we have hard time getting direct flight over there, I use Luton airport mostly and easyjet but it takes a long time to travel by car or National express bus to the city center from there. This was the first time I visited what is called the Black country and I recommend it. I could have walked around there for several days exploring the mines and riding around in the bus or walking around the canals and pondering on the Peeky Blinders executing people and throwing them into the coal prams to be covered with coals while sailing away to deliver those coals in other cities. The Library in the city center has a great pull for my inner bookworm being the largest library in Europe. And I found a bakery slash cafe called Medicine hidden in the shopping street, not the same as the one in the Bullring center. Ming Moon at Hurst Street Wagamama at Brindley Place by the Canal where we gained a friend in the manager and Del Villaggio on Broad Street are my frequent places to go for food. I also had a funny adventure with live music and singalongs in Mooncat bar in the Utility Arena. I have always heard stories about Birmingham being a dangerous place, but I do not feel that on my own skin traveling there if I stay out of the nightime hours and on open public areas and people are more friendly than I expected. When I stay there I use Novotel, Egbaston hotel or Radisson Blu in the center. I do not recommend the Park Regis Hotel. They look nice and posh on the front but have terrible rooms and really awful service. I have walked out of there in mid stay.

Had not been to Birmingham for 10 years due to various reasons that happen in life. Went mainly to visit Benjamin Ryans Hair Salon and the Theatre. What the hell have they done to Birmingham. Shops closed all over the place. It just looks badly Run Down and a shadow of how i remembered it. Was always buzzing and busy. Market was dead nothing like it used to be. Guess its down to the Council trying to Kill Trade with Congestion Charges or as they like to call it Clean Air Policy. Add to that Parking Charges and you can see a nice little Earner for them. Amazing how Councils that are badly run. Can only see a Quick Cash Grab. But miss the Damage they do to a City or a Town. Jobs Gone, Shops Closed all because of Lack of Customers due to there Measures and Cost of visiting Birmingham Now.

The location was very near to the city centre, which made it very easy to have frequent trips to the shopping centres. I liked the openness of the reception area, unlike other hotels that are very small. I also liked the fact the it had access to a gym. I think that the overall design of the hotel is very modern, with tall windows from the ground to the ceiling with beautiful views of the city centre. With the upcoming HS2 train station, I think this will be one of the best, if not the best located hotels in Birmingham.

When you first get there it doesn't seem very quiet, but once you get the sliding door/window closed and the curtains closed and cuddle up in the very well positioned bed, the room is super quiet. This was our second stay this year, and it's amazing to see the construction taking place in Birmingham. We were right over the train station this time. We hadn't been sure we wanted to return, but the price was better than a lot of nearby more boring hotels so we tried it again and had a great experience.

The hotel is very close to the city centre about 15mins walk Loved that the room are sound proof so you cannot hear other travelers in your room.
