Paul, the landlord, is a born & bred local whose warm personality ensures the Fox Inn retains a charm and authentic character. The room was bright, clean; the ceiling beam adding to the cottage feel. The bathroom was roomy; the bath allowing a deep soak after trenching round the pretty villages of the Cotswolds. The hearty breakfast was served in a dining room resplendent with a mural painted by a local artist. Paul's task, “Can you spot the fox?” The nearby river allowed a lazy afternoon lounging with a good book and a pint. Overall, it's idyllic setting, with real, home-grown ownership, lifts you away from the more corporate establishments and plants you into the beating heart of the English countryside .

I have stayed at the Fox Inn several times and return because I think its location is wonderful. Nestled by a babbling stream with a gorgeous garden and in the middle of the countryside near the beautiful Barringtons, and just a short drive to Burford. I choose the Fox over other hotels in small towns because I love the location, peace and quiet. They serve an excellent cooked breakfast and the all staff are friendly.

The 17th-century Fox Inn is set on the banks of the River Windrush, in the lovely Cotswolds countryside. It offers individually styled rooms with free Wi-Fi, a charming pub and riverside dining.

The Fox’s 4 luxury river mews rooms boast Cotswold stone walls and wooden beams, with traditional pub rooms also available. All rooms feature a TV, private bathroom and fishing rights for a private area of the river, with expert lessons also available.

  • Hi, With the current restrictions, what parts of the hotel are open? Is the bar and restaurant. I am also planning to come for New Year Eve.

    The hotel restaurant is open with bar in it. New years eve we usually have a special menu on and this year open fires and a friendly local atmosphere covid restrictions whatever they are at the time we are unsure as you are ! lets hope all ok

    YOU CAN EAT HERE WITH US, WE ALWAYS LOOK AFTER OUR RESIDENTS, JUST MENTION IT WHEN YOU CHECK IN AND WE WILL TELL YOU THE PROCEDURE. THERE IS ONE PUB 1 MILE AWAY BUT IT IS ON A BUST MAIN ROAD SO YOU WOULD NEED TO DRIVE

    the charge for a dog to stay is £15 for te 1st night then £10 per subsequent nights. Our restaurant is open and spaced to covid guidelines. masks on whilst moving around the building.
