I've been hosting for around two and a half years. Today it's my full time job so I or my team are always around to respond to your requests or queries. I really enjoy looking after my guests with extra touches like treats in the kitchen. I've been living in Folkestone for about five years so am happy to share my knowledge of the town and I usually send a list of recommendations for local places to visit, eat and drink. Folkestone is such a cool town though so there's lots to choose from and it changes frequently!

Property info

The Gatehouse is a Victorian Coach house in central Folkestone. The Gatehouse has it's own front door and after a flight of stairs you will find a great modern social kitchen with everything you need and a lovely comfy living room with a 50 inch TV and a double sofa bed. You will also find a shower room and loo on this level. A second flight of stairs leads up to the first two bedrooms each with their own storage and relaxation spaces including feature armchairs and reading lights one has a delux superking bed as well as a pull out single which can be set up anywhere you need and the other has a double bed. There's also a second toilet and a roll top victorian style bath with shower fitting for a real relaxing bathe. Finally a third and final set of stairs takes to you two good size bedrooms in the eaves, one with a double bed and a second one with a king and small double bed. There's also a mezzanine with a double sofa bed. This means the property can comfortably sleep upto 15 guests.

Neighborhood info

The Harbour arm is full of bars and restaurants at all summer & at weekends when the weather is clear in winter. The old high street has lots of quirky independent shops. The lower leas coastal park has the biggest free kids play area in Kent. The Warren and three peaks are great slightly strenuous walks. You can hire bikes from the Harbour arm and cycle to Sandgate (great cafes) or Hythe try the Hythe Imperial for some old school glamour. You can find souvenirs and Folkestone rock in the old harbour along with popular fish stalls, fountains kids love to play in and kayak hire or boat trips (summer only). I could go on there’s so much to see and do! Do look out for all the amazing public art. The town hall hosts a museum which is a good place to get maps etc. There’s a WW2 museum at Hawkinge along with the Terlingham vineyard - although opening hours should be checked especially in winter.
