“My wife and I were visiting Portsmouth to fulfill a long held desire to look over HMS Victory.The George Hotel was ideally situated to do this,being only a couple of minutes walk to the entrance of the dockyard and ample parking being available opposite at a discounted price for guests. What a gem it turned out to be.The staff were out to please and make your stay pleasant from the word go.It being the oldest pub/hotel in Portsmouth and still maintaining the charm of a bygone age gives it a cosy feeling not often found in modern establishments.The breakfast set you up for the day and evening meals were available in the restaurant except Mondays when the restaurant is closed.The rooms were clean,quiet and freshly decorated with comfortable beds,however by todays standards somewhat small.”

“The Location could not have been better for visiting the historic dockyard. The building had it's historic appearance such us the old wood beams, etc. The only traffic noise I heard was during the daytime as at night the historic dockyard is closed so surprisingly quiet. An excellent mattress, shower facility and the full English breakfast kept me going for the day.”
