“Plenty of parking, easy check in, nice staff, quick walk in to town, clean bathroom. Didn't have a drink at the pub in the end but it looked like a nice enough spot. I bought a cheap room and while it was a little small, it suited my purposes fine and as you might expect from the name of the place it had a type of characteristic old look to it which has been well maintained and was unlike any hotel I'd stayed in before.”

“The 4 poster was lovely and the room features in keeping. The restaurant was intriguing but we already had other plans. Breakfast was excellent with plenty to eat, cooked fresh. Service was excellent. The pedestal fan in the room was very welcome in the hot weather. We were only a level 15min walk from the city centre and Cathedral quarter.”

“The lady on re epitome helped me with paper despite being very busy I ordered food which was forgotten but the barman happily went into the kitchen (after the kitchen closed and chef had gone home) and made a mixed grill meal for me which was one of the best I have had. Great service.”

“The staff were exceptional, very helpful and extremely cheerful. The lad on reception was a ray of sunshine, he so obviously enjoys his work. The hotel is quirky, it must have been a very grand house in its day. We had a lovely room with a four poster bed and en suite bathroom. The bedroom and en suite were very clean, the bathroom looks like it has been recently updated. Our room was at the back of the hotel, the bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, and the food was very tasty. Nice and cosy with a wood fire in the room. The hotel was perfectly situated for us, it's only a 10 minute walk into town. Easy parking in the hotel car park, we will definitely stay here the next time we visit Derby.”

“The room was absolutely beautiful! Felt like a bit of a movie star. I loved the decor, bed, chaise lounge, tea cups - everything! Thank goodness there was a little heater in the room, as I'd been working outside all night so was extremely cold! The room is quite big so it did take a while to warm up - but was so relieved to see it!”
