It’s about the human connection, even when a few things go wrong. When I arrived my room wasn’t quite ready. But to make up for it the manager gave me a free coffee, offered me free drinks at the bar, and let me check out quite late. Everyone—the cook, the bartender—was so friendly and made really good travel suggestions. First rate people; they really make you feel at home.

The hotel seems to be run (very efficiently) by a handful of staff. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was served very promptly and efficiently by one man. He was very friendly. We liked the bar - pity it could not have opened a little bit earlier but realise this has to do with difficulty in getting staff. We liked that the hotel had its original features - must have been stunning before the advent of fire doors! Parking easy behind the hotel.
