Tynemouth was an unexpectedly lovely place. The beach was really nice and we enjoyed a (sadly brief) look around the castle and priory. Great fish and chip dinner and then a good night sleep before off to walk Hadrians wall! It looked much nicer to stay here than around Wallsend and I'm very glad we did.

The Grand Hotel is wonderfully set among Long Sands in Tynemouth. Long Sands is one of the most beautiful beaches in northern Europe. The hotel has excellent food and the pub, Copperfields, a great beer selection -- with really good guest beers.

Located at the mouth of the River Tyne, in the historic seaside town of Tynemouth, the Grand Hotel is set upon a cliff top and features views of Longsands beach and the North Sea. This prestigious Victorian property features original features and a sweeping central staircase, which dates back to 1872.

The rooms include a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite bath or shower rooms have complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. Some rooms are located in a separate building, next door to the main hotel. Wifi is available throughout the property.

  • Do you do New Years Eve dinner/ show with overnight accomodation?

    Yes, we have New Years Eve Dinner served in the Brasserie and a New Years Eve Ball in the Orchid Suite with a meal and disco. We also have accommodation available for New Year Eve night. Information will be available in our 2020 Christmas Brochure. This will be available Autumn 2020.

    Yes, we have sea view rooms with double beds, breakfast is served from 7am - 9.45pm and we have a secure bike lockup.

    Parking is free to the front and side of the hotel. Please ask reception on arrival for directions to garage. The hotel is guide dogs only.

  • I notice there are steps to the front of the property is there an accessible entrance?

    We have got step free access through Copperfield's bar. We also have another entrance around the back of the hotel which is step free also. Kind Regards Grand Hotel.

    All our bedrooms are different. If you would like a bath in your room please request one. Yes, we have breakfast cards available in bedrooms. The card is to be filled out and put on your door before 2am.
