Newark can easily be covered in a weekend.
Newark can easily be covered in a weekend. The National Civil War centre is worth a quick visit as part of the town Civil War Trail. A good range of pubs, bars and eateries and quite a few independent shops and boutiques. Elements of the town are sadly in decline but, with the river, it's still picturesque enough to explore and wander.

It was just a break of journey for us, but there are many dining options a short drive away. We were also told as we left that if we fancied a take away of some sort, we could arrange delivery and Shaan and Sef would set up a table for us to eat it there in comfort. We may well try that next time we stop.

when we arrived we were not very impressed , but after parking and having a nice breakfast we found the town square , then every thing opened up . It was a nice surprise to see what was the market place surrounded by shops . we also had a lovely evening meal in the Ram pub , the food was very good and the service could not have been better. We found that Newark had a lot of history and shall be going back to see more . Would recomend.

Wonderful town to explore.
Wonderful town to explore. Great places to eat and drink and historic places to visit. Plenty of places to stay over and highly recommend the Newark guest house which although just outside of Newark it is only a ten minute taxi drive away. It is a beautiful place to stay.

We arrive in the afternoon so we needed to eat out but we found it very difficult to find somewhere to eat , everything was closed , especially on a Monday and Tuesday . We ended up eating in the Old post office which was just like a weather spoons, not nice,to the fact I Was up being sick through the night . Only grip .

Ideal location for want we wanted (Newark showground) and a bit of tourism in Lincoln and Newark on Trent.
Very quiet, beautiful setting, apartment was perfect in a lovely old building. Bed was very comfortable, and apartment was tastefully furnished. Even though it was very hot outside (34C), the apartment stayed lovely and cool . Parking was outside. Would love to know the story of the gorilla statue on the drive up and the red telephone booth in the gardens.
The location was very favourable - it is only a 10 minute stroll to Newark town centre. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our room, no 1, was small though very well furnished with a real power shower. The bar area was very comfortable. Dinner would not have been out of place in a 5 star hotel - but so was the price - £70. The room was only £50. Still full from dinner, we did not take breakfast.
Gail was the one who received me. She listened and helped me out with everything. She went to the extent of finding and booking cabs for me for every day i stayed successfully. Also, when i had to extend my stay she made sure to sort it out for me even though it was a fully booked hotel the next day. i cant thank enough all the staff for their amazing welcoming. the food was very good.
Beautiful place, exceptional facilities, comfortable bed, quiet location but close to facilities, great breakfast, really good value and lovely staff.
We will only stay here when in Newark now
Highly recommended. Especially recommend room 2 as it's so large and the bathroom, with its rolled to bath and large separate shower, is bigger than most hotel rooms!
From the location of the property to the facilities and the food, everything about this hotel is excellent. January is the most exceptional host.. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
I stayed for work at the showground and wont hesitate to book again next year if I am working at the showground again
Lime House is in the perfect place to get to the train and bus stations and into town. Andy, the host, couldn't be more friendly and helpful, and his tips for places to see were great. The extra space and privacy of having a house rather than a hotel room was great for the day I had to work from there, too.
Sue makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. Food, room, service and price are all great. 10/10.
Breakfast was served in their pristine spacious dining room, nice and early as requested by us.
Will definitely be returning next year. Great location for visiting Newark Showground.
Very clean, cosy and close to the Newark Showgrounds. The warmth and friendliness of Sheila and her staff was absolutely wonderful. If you are attending anything in Newark it is a fantastic location.
The hotel was very responsive and provided lots of info as to how to get to the property, including a very handy picture. The room was a good size, comfortable and had a great view.
The hotel is a lovely, interesting building with a very unexpected gothic interior. Our room was fabulous. Very plush, very comfortable with lots of quirky elements. A hidden gem.
The hotel was in a good location very near the centre of Newark. There was plenty of parking on site. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean and modern.
Breakfast was very nice and location was perfect as I was attending an event at the Newark Showground, so only just down the road. Nice, quiet surroundings too.
Really nice and comfortable and a 10/15 minute walk into town, handy for events in the showground. Easy parking and fairly quiet, we enjoyed our stay thanks 😊
