The hotel had some lovely old features, slightly sloping floors, beams etc but was clean and our huge bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and nicely presented. All the staff we met were very warm welcoming and very helpful.

United States of AmericaThe location was perfect, at the top of the hill and a lovely walk through traders passage to get there fromt the main street. The staff were very friendly, breakfast had plenty of options (including choosing what you wanted in your English breakfast), the room was old style but clean, mattress and pillows were not too hard and not too soft, and even though it was a side room, the view of all the red rooftops was still quite pretty. Rooms also have a big screen so it's convenient when you're tired from walking around all day and just want to relax in your room. There are benches in front and on the side of the hotel so we had dinner there in the evening since most restaurants are busy with tourists. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend getting take out at the chippie and eating on the benches (but beware of seagulls).

This mid-18th century former inn offers unique rooms, free Wi-Fi, and excellent views of Rye.
Built around 1750 for local sailors and ship builders, The Hope Anchor is thought to have once sheltered the Tenterden Gang, who used its old secret passages for smuggling.
Relax beside the log fire in traditional cozy bar, and enjoy the individually styled bedrooms, some of which have a four poster bed.
In the morning enjoy a delicious traditional full English breakfast or if you prefer a lighter continental breakfast of cold meats and cheeses, yogurt and fresh fruit salad or maybe even have both!! all served in our breakfast room. (Please note we do not serve lunches or evening meals)
