Beautiful Loch views. There was a Coop for your shopping & also other little shops too. There was a lovely fish & chip shop that had a little cafe too. The food was lovely & nothing was too much for them. Most of the people were friendly as well.

Scenery, friendly locals.
Scenery, friendly locals. Beautiful Kilmory Park, interesting ancient sites nearby, variety of shops, 1 large supermarket.
Only downside was ordered a bag of chips at local take away, paid £3.50 and then told the chips would be ready in 25 minutes. However, as a tourist this amused me more than inconvenienced me.

Lochgilphead is a very attractive small town.
Lochgilphead is a very attractive small town. It is also the best base I think for exploring the whole of mid-Argyll. Road distances in Argyll tend to be long - but Lochgilphead is only a few miles from the star attractions of Knapdale (wildlife, scenery, boating), Kilmartin (Europe's greatest concentration of ancient monuments), the island of Gigha and the Kintyre coast. And Tarbert, with several ferry connections to the islands and Cowal, is a very quick drive away, as are the National Trust gardens at Crarae. Inveraray is also an easy day trip.

Lochgilphead is a large village in Argyll, it has quite a few small independant shops, something that is lacking in larger towns. It has the usual eating places as the larger towns although special mention has to go to the Argyll Cafe. The loch itself is very scenic and there are ongoing improvements going on in that area.

While Lochgilphead is small, there are a handful of interesting local businesses (arts and crafts, household decoration, good cafés) that are worth checking out. It is also convenient for visiting Kilmartin Glen, Crinan and the canal, Tavallach/Loch Sween (Castle) and beautiful and tranquil Knapdale in general. On the practical side there's a decent sized co-op supermarket and a mini-supermarket, as well as one or two petrol stations. Dinner options are limited however. The upcoming renovations to the lochfront area should make this part of town more attractive.
The cottage is delightful, both spacious and cozy. Comfy beds, spare but perfectly comfortable bedrooms, a lovely big living room and spacious and well-equipped kitchen. And the location is extraordinary-- right near Kilmartin Glen and the ancient stone circles and such scattered about the area. The owner was great too-- never met him but he replied promptly to queries about the cottage and the whole area, very pleasant to interact with and gave us excellent suggestions.
Janette and Bobby could not have been more hospitable nor more helpful during our stay. They provided lots of information about sights and eating out in Lochgilphead. The rooms were comfortable, stylish and well appointed. Clearly, much thought had gone into the planning, which included beverage-making facilities. There was ample parking and it was well located. The breakfast was a tour de force! It set me up for the day. I really enjoyed it and would go again.
Breakfast was cooked to order and plenty of it. Really delicious. Weirdly.....Booking.com describes it as a "small" breakfast. It most certainly is not small. A choice of cereals, freshly cut fruit, other fruit, toast, porridge. A great selection.
We had dinner here as well. Beautifully cooked, good prices and great choice of wines and beers.
The gems of this hotel has to be the staff, from the proptrietor to the serving staff and of course the housekeeping staff.
Fabulous 2 day stay at Dundda cottage. Spotless, comfortable lovely surroundings. Peaceful location, lovely country inn within walking distance.
Woke up in the morning to the sound of sheep, watched them toddling past the window every morning.
We used as a base for exploring Lochgilphead and Crinan Canals, before heading to Loch Melfort. Would definitely book again.
Staff super friendly and professional.
Made to feel at home straight away.
The owners have recently just opened the hotel and have made an excellent job throughout.
Food was absolutely fantastic. High quality locally sourced ingredients used from breakfast to dinner (Toni’s scrambled eggs a must!!)
We will definitely be back to the Horeshoe Hotel.
Lovely house, beautifully decorated and furnished. Breakfast menu very original with a wide choice, French toast and bacon, American pancakes and berries for example. Great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Nice position near town centre but quiet location by the sea.
Lochgilphead great location for a holiday.
Splendid traditional inn just north of, and far better than anything in, Lochgilphead. Paul very kindly invited me to check in early when I called from my bike a few miles away, cold and soaking. Very comfortable bedroom, shed for bike storage, and a delicious dinner (duck). Will be back for sure.
Brilliant wee bnb. Very welcoming and friendly hosts and very dog friendly (dog even got her own cut up square sausage for breakfast which she loved!) Comfortable clean accommodation. Great breakfast. We wouldn't hesitate to book again when we're in the area.
Yvonne was very welcoming and sought to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Provision of breakfast provisions was good. The location by the neolithic monuments was excellent and the walk to the local hotel for dinner past many of them was great.
Really friendly hosts who were happy to accommodate our early arrival. Even though the hotel was full, there was very little noise heard from other guests. Breakfast was great and the check in and out process were easy.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful old doctors house in Lochgilphead. Pauline was a delight, full of information and provided us with a great breakfast. The rooms are large, and very comfortable.
Whilst my trip was work related, this is a great base to explore mid-Argyll from. Really nice location by the canal - lots of nice walks nearby. The wood burner is great - don't forget to bring logs!
Located close to Lochgilphead and with in walking distance of a freindly pub which served very good food. Good location for walking and exploring the area.
