We had a lovely welcome and we were shown to our room. The room was very clean, warm and comfortable with the added bonus of a fridge with a bottle of water and fresh milk - lovely touch ! We booked dinner and enjoyed super starters (the corn fritters were delicious ) and lovely falafel burgers and chips - all beautifully cooked and presented. Would recommend the local pale ale as well .The place had a lovely atmosphere and we were so well looked after - thank you - we will return again I am sure !

The Hostelrie at Goodrich is a country inn offering traditional rooms, a restaurant and bar. The 18th century gothic-style building is located in the pretty village of Goodrich in the stunning Wye Valley. Free parking and free Wi-Fi are provided.

Close to the edge of the beautiful Forest of Dean, rooms at The Hostelrie have carpeted floors and wooden furnishings, and some feature exposes stone walls. Each also comes with a TV and facilities for making tea and coffee.

  • Is there a ground floor room for elderly couple with small dog?

    Thank you for your question. All our rooms are on the first floor of the building with the exception of our large family room which is on the ground floor. All our rooms are dog friendly.

    Hello, Thank you for your enquiry. Regretfully we do not currently have any accessible rooms with a wet room. The building is listed which does rather limit what can be done. Best wishes The Hostelrie

  • Hi Do you have any double rooms available which do not require walking up many stairs? I see there is no lift.

    Thank you for your enquiry. We are a listed building & do not have a lift, the only ground floor room is our large family room (2 adults, 2 children). All our double rooms are up one flight of stairs.

    Thank you for your question. Breakfast is available Wednesday to Sunday & is included in our rates. Our restaurant & bar are closed on a Monday & Tuesday so the rate is room only for Sunday & Monday nights.

The fine print

Due to staffing difficulties, we currently close the restaurant on a Sunday evening, Monday & Tuesday (including cooked breakfasts - but provide a continental breakfast in a fridge in the room on these two days), & the bar/pub on Monday & Tuesdays, with check in being strictly between 3pm-6pm on these two days.

Dogs are permitted in the garden and bar area, but owners are requested to keep their dog on a lead in the public eating areas. Should your dog foul indoors, the property may charge for cost of cleaning or charge you for the full cost to replace damaged items. Under no circumstances must dogs be left unattended in either the hotel rooms or holiday cottage.

If you expect to arrive between 14:00 and 18:00 on weekdays in autumn and winter, please inform The Hostelrie in advance.
