Location was excellent for the distilleries we wanted to visit and to the ferry.

Mike United Kingdom

Great view, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast and warm rooms!

Андрей Ukraine

I left my shirt hanging behind the bathroom door. Before I even realized it, Islay hotel staff sent me an email letting me know about my shirt. Since I was traveling around England the next week, they mailed it to my UK location without any hesitation. Food options on Islay are limited to a co-op down the street from the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant is nice. Don't miss the full scottish breakfast because it is exceptional.

Angela United States of America

What a lovely place! The staff are attentive and welcoming, the facilities immaculate, and you can’t beat the location. We always looked forward to sheltering back at the hotel for a warm meal and good company after long cold days of walking to the distilleries. Highly recommend for anyone touring Islay!

Daisy Germany

Food was good! Our waiter was funny, friendly and knowledgeable

Desiree United States of America

Loved the location, our room was beautiful! Dinner was fabulous, and we loved the bar with live music, excellent selection of scotch. Nigel is a star; thank you Nigel!

Margaret United States of America

Our room was beautiful, beds were comfortable. Loved the shower. Nigel and the rest of the staff were wonderful, but especially Nigel! There is live music Thursday & Saturday nights. By all means make a reservation for dinner at the hotel- it was fabulous!

Margaret United States of America

Breakfast was great. Lots of traditional options as well as plenty of food that people with dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free) can eat. The hotel had a great style and was right on the water. Perfect location to wander around Port Ellen. The rooms were comfy, clean, and had great modern updates. The staff was attentive. I left my jacket in the dining room at dinner and didn't notice. The staff recognized me the next morning at breakfast and brought me my jacket.

Maksim United States of America

Breakfast is amazing, everyone was really friendly and the bar/restaurant is really good.

Lukas Switzerland

The location, the room, shower and all the amenities were excellent. We extremely pleased with all the help and advice we received from Nigel. He is a superb employee and made our stay so nice. Our dinner and breakfast were very good.

Its a pretty small town, with not many bars, restaurants around. but obviously this has nothing to do with the hotel. The hotel offers a good range of whiskies in their bar and a very good food menu.

The hotel was exceptional with a nice restaurant and a bar. Stuff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge with confy beds and good quality amenities. The location is ideal for your stay at Islay

The staff was very accommodating, tracking down a dram that I was looking for at a bar elsewhere on the island, and doing my laundry same-day with no notice. The location is very convenient to explore Islay; a walk away from Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg, and two blocks away from the bus stop to Bowmore and Port Askaig.

Staff were extremely welcoming and freindly. The amenities were great, big bath, strong shower, massive bed. Nigel the manager is a top bloke. Also had opportunity to meet the owner of the hotel who was lovely. Food here is also 10/10. Brilliant atmosphere at night in bar with alot of the locals using it as their local. Bar staff very freindly.

Nothing really - the only thing I can think of was the sea trout not being available, but if (as I suspect) it was out of season then this was hardly the fault of the hotel

I liked pretty much every aspect of my stay: the cooked breakfast (included in the room rate) was awesome and the porridge was a filling alternative, the staff were friendly and attentive, the view - looking east from my room - of the marina and across the bay was splendid shortly after sunrise whereas the "Lovecraftian" (borrowing that description from elsewhere) Carraig Fhada Lighthouse could be seen from the other side of it, and it was ideally located for the bus that operates between Port Askaig and Ardbeg several times a day (with the exception of Sunday). I gave full marks for value for money particularly because my room was upgraded for no additional cost.

Our window overlooked the back yard full of rubbish. We could hear the guests in the next room word for word. We could only eat in the restaurant once, we couldn't understand quite how that worked as there were people eating there other nights. The bar which we could eat in was ok but needs some serious cosying. The whole place is just a bit lacking in love and a personal touch. It lacks cohesion somehow. And the food was sometimes excellent but often also good/verging on mediocre. Just could do with a little refreshing and cosying.

The staff were lovely. The location great. The full Scottish breakfast was excellent, the best we have had! Food very good generally. Room spacious. Huge bath if you like to bathe á deux. Nice robes, towels etc. Bathroom very modern. All clean. Bar well stocked with single malts. Knowledgable staff.

      No dislikes whatsoever.

The hotel has been upgraded recently and is of a high standard. The rooms are clean and warm. The restaurant offers local produce which is cooked to perfection. The breakfast kept us going all day till dinner time.
