Set in the beautiful Dovedale Valley, The Izaak Walton is a 17th-century hotel with spectacular views across the Derbyshire countryside, known for its fishing streams. A log fire and wooden beamed ceilings feature in the hotel’s lounge.

A seating area, tea and coffee facilities and a TV feature in all rooms at The Izaak Walton Hotel. Each private bathroom includes a selection of toiletries and a hairdryer.

The Haddon Restaurant offers fine dining and views over Thorpe Cloud Hill and Dovedale.

You can go fishing in one of Derbyshire's finest trout streams, the River Dove, which is just 650 feet away and was made famous in "The Complete Angler".

  • If staying over Christmas I presume Christmas dinner is available in the restaurant and how what us the cost?

    At present we are planning a Festive Menu, prices TBC. Of course this is subject to any Covid restrictions which may be in place.

    Good evening, Yes we have 3 dog friendly bedrooms and the bar is also dog friendly. It is always best to phone the hotel to make sure they are available. Kind regards, Karen, Reception.

  • CAn you walk directly from the hotel onto the dales?

    The footpath to Dovedale is right at the end of the hotel so you would not need to get into your car.

  • Do you offer room service so I can dine in my room - especially curious due to the pandemic and wanting to social distance when I can

    We do offer room service, with a £5.00 tray charge. We have had a thorough survey and have put in place all recommendations to make the hotel as Covid safe as possible, with socially distanced tables and a one way system and lots of sanitizer points.

  • Can you accommodate 2 small dogs

    We have 3 dog friendly rooms in our courtyard area. It is always best to contact the hotel by phone to ensure these rooms are available as they are very popular.

  • hi. we'd like to come for 3 nights from the 27th to the 30th. we are a family of 3 with a 10 year old child. Would it be possible to have an extra bed in one of the spacious rooms you have instead of having to take 2 rooms, which wouldn't work for us? Regards Amine
