This was our 2nd stay and it was just as good as our 1st. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. It’s also in an ideal location for Alton Towers.

Lovely B&B, inside and out, great host, fantastic guide accessed online for hotel facilities and local area information - this is a great idea given the current situation, comfortable rooms and very nice breakfast.

The stuff are really lovely, the room are clean and comfy, it’s amazing experience cozy lovely i strongly recommend, the breakfast yummy and the man who was served lovely and smily.

Location in the quaint village of Oakamoor. Close to Alton Towers. Phil and Helen were excellent hosts, as were the rest of the staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Phil has no issue with making my eggs “sunny side up” with my full English breakfast for us Americans.

Clean and not old fashioned lots of flowers and plants and quite

Beautiful location, ideal for Alton towers and some lovely walks. Great place to stay and very welcoming. Would highly recommend and will be revisiting. Loved the Halloween decor.

My husband loved the gadget clocks as you could charge your phone on them. They also supplied drinks and snacks at supermarket prices which was a nice touch which we hadn't seen before. The room was lovely and modern and breakfast was delicious.

Halloween decorations Breakfast Location Owners were really friendly

Perfect location for Alton Towers. Friendly host, delicious breakfast, comfortable lounge space which was ideal given 10pm pub curfew. Loved all the Halloween decorations too!

Everything else. Immaculate b&b.. no hesitation in recommending for the b&b location but also for the accommodations itself and the breakfast and rates. Really enjoyed our stay

Phil and Helen
The Laurels is a large property that sits on the side of the fabulous Churnet Valley, overlooking the traditional village of Oakamoor. The rooms are light, airy and spotlessly clean. We have a large breakfast room where you can sample Helen's excellent breakfast and enjoy the large number of native birds that visit the many feeders we have outside. The views from the front of the property are of the village and the valley. We're surrounded by woods, streams and the river, which provides fantastic opportunities for walking, picnicking and cycling. Our outdoor areas provide plenty of seating and the opportunity to relax in the open air and enjoy the views and the local wildlife.
Having worked in the corporate world for many years, we were lucky enough to spend a lot of time travelling. This also meant we had the opportunity to sample a LOT of hotels and B&Bs. Armed with this experience and our ideas of what we wanted from a B&B we decided to 'put our money where our mouth is' and do it ourselves! Obviously you'll be the judge of whether we've succeeded or not, but we strive to provide a friendly, welcoming and comfortable stay for every single one of our guests, where you can relax in warm and spotlessly clean surroundings that feel like home, for as long as you want to stay. We both love the countryside, wildlife and walking, so our village is just perfect. We get to enjoy our surroundings and have the chance to walk in the woods, along the canals or rivers and just relax whenever we get the chance. As a bonus, we also get to meet thousands of different people every year who want to spend a small part of their life in our house. We look forward to meeting you.
The most common comment we hear, when our guests arrive for the first time is, "I didn't realise it was so beautiful round here!" Our mission then, is to try and get as many people as possible to sample the delights of The Churnet Valley and our surrounding area. Essentially, if you fancy doing any of the following, this is the place to be; Walking, cycling, thrill seeking, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, visiting historic houses, gardens, theme parks, museums, steam railways, throwing or decorating your own pots, eating, drinking and a whole bunch more! Clearly one day really isn't long enough to sample what our area has to offer, so why not treat yourself to a longer stay.
